Pattern September 2023 Discussion Thread

92 here today so nothing crazy. Luckily this looks like the end of summer and I am so happy it’s done
It looks like there is at least a chance that tomorrow is the last 90 degree day of the year for KCLT. It’s funny because a certain poster from Jonesville said last week we would be mid to upper 90s for the next 3 weeks

This could very well be the last 90 degree day for many/most. Certainly a random 90 degree day could still happen but I like where we stand looking forward. That initial Sept cooldown is upon us folks; enjoy the seasonal change into beautiful fall! Here is my two week for the middle chunk of Sept; change is right on cue. 50s at night = open a window!

Is it normal for Raleigh to have their hottest day of the year in September ?
No, the hottest weather in Raleigh usually occurs in late July. The high of 102 interestingly enough didn't break the daily record for yesterday, The record was 104 set back in 1954. I've been dubious about the reporting sensor at RDU for some time now but I believe the 102 degree measurement was close to actual yesterday. The all time record high at RDU is 105 which has been recorded on several different occasions.

No, but I’d guess it isn’t the wildest thing. In 2019, we got up to 100 in early October, which was the first time on record that’s happened.
The RDU sensor is FoS that 100 wasn't legit or if it was it was legit on the airport grounds and not for the rest of the area

Its ridiculous that these are the sensors that we have to hear about on the evening news as being the official readings for an area.
