@LithiaWx ?). Nobody has made a case here, not that I've seen, that cops should operate without oversight and regulation. With the technology that exists today, that should be pretty easy. Cops shouldn't be targets, either from criminals, political systems, or from mobs or the media. They should be treated fairly and respected. But they should also be well-trained, subject to accountability, and held to a very high standard.
Anyone who has a position of authority with the ability to use deadly force against others should not be given free reign and be above the law themselves. But I don't think anyone here is suggesting this.
The notion of disbanding police departments is just plain dumb. Likewise, the notion of f the police is just plain dumb.
On a personal note, I'm grateful for people who choose to be police and protect our communities. Will there be some bad cops on the streets? You bet. But that will be the case with anything anywhere. They face pressures and situations that I will never know...and don't want to know. I am glad there are those willing to do it.
