It is interesting to see what, if anything, Iran will do now. The "save face" discussion isn't only occurring in this forum but all over the world and no doubt Iranian leaders are well aware.... curious to see how that sits with them. I mean what's more embarrassing to them, doing nothing or firing some duds into the ground just to be the butt of all saving face jokes the next day. Like him or not, intentional or not, I think Trump has actually put them in a spot like they've never been in before, to @Arcc point it's kind of exposed them for who they are and *could* lead to great results down the road. Lot's to monitor over the coming days, hoping and praying this is basically the extent of it (for now)

I think Iran is trying to have it both ways, people need to read up on their capabilities they could have killed hundreds of US troops last night, basically this is them saying we are capable of hurting you and we will if pushed far enough, but we don't really want a war against the US as they know it will result in a lot of lost infrastructure etc....

They gave the US a heads up that it was coming because they know the US will hit back hard if they kill a bunch of troops. So now Iran gets to "stand" up to the US ( they are telling their people they killed 80 Americans which obviously didn't happen) and the US gets to take out a target they have wanted to kill for several decades...win win for everyone and no one else has to die.

This speech sounds like a preparation for a war footing; doubling down on sanctions and the repetition of the promise to never allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon.

Yep I think this was a good result, we got a major target and terrorist taken out and in response they fire off missiles that do very little damage and no casualties.

If anyone still believes the taking out of that terrorist was a bad move you would just look absolutely silly now. Trump has shown to not mess with the US not only to IRAN but to any terrorist organization out there if you mess with us we will come for you and successfully at that. Iran is scared and they knew if they hit anything appreciable last night they would be done for so they didn’t and they just displayed a firework show for their own people to save face. This administration continues to amaze the world in its accomplishments.

I interpenetrated the speech as a De-Escalation. Iran, I would guess pretty much expected additional sanctions. As far as not allowing Iran to have nuclear weapons. Pretty much been the case for quite some time. Even Obama wouldn't allow nuclear weapons.

Yeah Trump listened to the right people for once, Iran told the US this was coming more or less and they used older weaker rockets and aimed to miss the bases for the most part....it was all for show and to look tough for the home crowd. The current Iranian leadership is ultimately happy the US killed this guy, they wont say it out loud but this guy was positioning himself to take over Iran, and by killing him Trump did them a backhanded favor and removed a coup threat and it allowed the current Iran leadership to look tough and strong and build up nationalism which they need desperately as Iran's current regime is having trouble with growing secularism and democratic attitudes.

I don’t believe this will be the end of the matter. But if it is and we eventually achieve our strategic goals in the region (preventing Iranian from staining nuclear weapons and limiting their influence in the region) then I will be the first to say job well done to Mr Trump. Until then, I remain as skeptical as I am concerning a GFS day 7 snow storm. ?

And please don’t misunderstand me; I have no issue in principle with taking out Gen Salami. My hope all along is that it doesn’t spiral out of control.

Iran showed they are the pesky little brat that keeps slapping you in the back of the head as you walk along. They never hit hard and they never want to take a punch. Well they got punched and they went to swing back but pulled the punch.

I don't think things spiral out of control at least not on Iran's end ( seriously with Trump you have no idea WTF could happen ) but I think the Iranians are more than happy to go back to the status quo after this exchange....

The fact is the USA has got to leave Iraq due to the killing of Soleimani, this is the real biggest outcome from this entire debacle......Iraq is now essentially a puppet state ran by Iran ( it was already headed that way, this will speed it along bigly )....so Iran gains a lot from this, their influence over the region is growing not diminishing and while killing Soleimani feels good because of the damage he has done to the US over the years the real truth is there are plenty of capable people to pick up where he left off so ultimately we are no safer now than we were before.

Add to that that this has created a lot of nationalism in Iran as they rally around the government and in the end anyone thinking any of this has weakened Iran is very, very mistaken, in fact its done the opposite.

Mike Lee was PISSED coming out of the briefing they had today from the Trump admin.....this may end up being a bigger deal than many folks think, listen to what this man says, Trumps admin thinks they have TOTAL control of the government and Trump does not have to answer to ANYONE, even GOP senators.....Trump pisses these guys off enough and he will find out just how wrong he is...

His reaction is very telling. This is not a Democrat or a never Trumper.

He could hardly talk, that is what frustration looks like, I think he was blown away that the folks Trump sent to brief them basically told them to shut up, not question anything and be good little boys and go out and sing Trump praises.....Trump biggest mistake is thinking these people all work for him....

I hope you're right. But more than likely he'll fall in line by tomorrow.

No GOP congressman dare opposes Trump, unless they are not seeking reelection.

And thus, the process repeats..

Try something different when you wake up and turn the computer on today. Google "Trump did something good this week" just to see if the glass goes above the half empty line

His bad will always outweigh his good. The only real fighting chance we had to push back against the socialism ideology growing in the nation were the Republicans.

Many Republicans are disgusted with and leaving the party. I'm one of them. There are entire Twitter threads designated for Republicans to walk away from the trump branch of the party.

Trumps the worst thing to ever happen to the gop and will go down as one of the worst presidents ever.

See this is the reason we have crappy options and presidents.....your basically saying gloss over all the bad stuff and just focus on the good stuff...the problem with Trump however is fundamental and has no chance at going away, he is flawed in that he thinks president=king, that's why Mike Lee is so pissed off, listen to what he is telling you, they told the Senators in the meeting what and how they are suppose to think, that's really how Trump see's them, they are "his" and they should be loyal to him, problem is they don't work for him they work for us.

Once again Trump showed just how irresponsible the dems and msm are. I can't believe the reporting on Iran. The media has always been so excited to report bad things. Now they are just falling over themselves with giddiness. They fall for it every time though. Clowns. It is entertaining for those of us who know what is going to happen before it does but it's also disgusting to watch these people lie and push false information. Very dangerous. Was it MSNBC that reported maybe 30 fatalities? They were zero concerned about how families must have felt during this reporting and citizens that were actually scared that didn't know what was really happening. As long as they can throw info out there like this to push their narrative who cares right. If you say something you know is not true, you can't make people unhear it. Tactic. Their only tactic at this point. It's not going to work though for much longer. If it weren't for the millions of dollars of contracts CNN pays, they would have already went to be with Jesus. The dems and msm are going to reap what they sew..I'm very proud of our President and his speech yesterday was great. If Iran wants to behave and act civilized, they have a chance. Now we have to worry about deep state plants and false flag attempts. Let there be peace. Everybody wants it except the evil..
Regarding fake impeachment: Those of you depending on the Bolton thing....Nothing burger

Where are you going? No mans land? I am curious as to why you folks think he is bad for the republican party "policy wise"?

Is there anything good Trump could do to sway your opinion? To make you tilt the scale?
