If we are giving credit to the POTUS for the unemployment numbers, Obama started at 9.9% and dropped in his last year to 4.7%, an improvement of 110%. Trump started at 4.7% and dropped to 3.5% (pre-Covid) an improvement of 34%. If we give Presidents credit for employment figures, Obama did great leading us out of the recession and Trump was doing well continuing the trend. You can't fault Trump for the COVID situation, but if he had responded earlier taking it serious, the effects may have been not as severe and we would be a month further ahead in our recovery.

I don’t get it. Acted sooner in what way? He shut down international flights from China. Was called names by the Democrats for doing such action. Then you had Cuomo who was saying nothing to worry about. It was not just all on Trump to make the choices to act faster. If he had would Cuomo and others followed? I highly doubt it. If he had shut down even sooner then we would still be where we are at today. High unemployment and getting worse. Maybe we would be open sooner but would that be a good thing? Can we say lesser deaths? No one can say either way or prove it. Looking at America and other nations. Shutdowns will be tolerable for about a month to 2 months at most. After that people get restless and will start protesting. Now we face the effects of a severe recession almost a depression. Along with possibly another round in the fall/winter. Hopefully this virus burns itself out. If does not then more deaths and a not pretty economic picture. Hard times for both sides no matter which side you are on.

If he had responded earlier? That is full of falsehoods. He responded "appropriately" based on the information we as a country had from the WHO, CDC and China who obviously lied to the entire world. Nobody including Dr. Fauci thought the risk was as high as it was and thats been shown time and again no matter how hard you attempt to say otherwise. To suggest the effects would have been less severe and our recovery further along is laughable.

I think a reasonable mix of the 2 would have sufficed. Outright dismissal is just as bad as overhyped. Even if he went out on TV and projected positivity he should have/could have been working behind the scenes to prepare for worst case. As we know now he wasnt doing that behind the scenes.

IMO this takes dismissal from positive projection to outright denial.

Ok. Then he dropped the ball and it’s in the past. Nothing can change it now. We have roughly 6 months to see what happens till the election. I’m sure it will be comical from both sides till then. We still have yet to hear who his vp choice is. That should real interesting.

I had a lot of different leaders in my time in service. Some were brilliant, some not so much. I had one who made Trump look like Einstein but I would have laid down in front of a bus for him because of his leadership qualities.

I certainly wish he would talk less and let the doctors talk more regarding this virus but thats just not his style. He wants and has to be involved because he has always been the boss front and center in everything he has ever done or will do.

Personally I will never allow my emotions get the better of me when I make important decisions. Who I choose to support as the CIC is such a decision.

So if emotions aren't leading you to support Trump, what is? I can't see how it could be logic. His IQ and EQ might both be negative numbers, were that possible. My dog as President would end up killing fewer Americans than he has.

Well that's being awfully cavalier about 50k dead people. You are clearly fed up with the lockdown policies but were they preventable had we implemented a strong testing and tracing plan instead of always playing catch up from 7 days behind? Yeah its behind us so to speak but holding trump accountable shouldn't be behind us it is 6 months in front of us.

For real? Who has Trump killed? You accuse the president of killing people? The economy was doing best it had ever done before this virus. That is facts. I am out in real would every week and companies and people were happiest they had been in a long long time. What do you do @crecre9? I believe you said you are former military? How many years and what branch if might ask?

Punch away. Your man Biden is soon to have to show himself and face the media and show how pathetic he is. They can’t hide him forever. So Trump is accountable for 50k deaths? So is a war crimes trial in order for him? I guess all these presidents in every nation should be on trial? So is Cuomo responsible for all the deaths in his state? He clearly let the ball drop. It’s always the same with liberals. It’s always someone else’s fault and they are always right. Spread the wealth. Everyone makes same pay. Free free free free! Socialism will work they say.

As a vet I am pro military. I want lower taxes and a business friendly president. I want better trade deals for our country and someone who will atleast attempt to tackle immigration. He checks those boxes for me
 
Do we (all of us) want's what's best for the Country or what's worse for Trump? I submit there are people who would rather see the Country and Economy go down in flames (Economy is pretty close and the Country wouldn't be far behind) than see anything that would potentially benefit Trump or even give him an iota of credit for anything.

Anybody who says they hate Trump is entitled to their thoughts, I do find it extremely disingenuous self-called moderate conservatives would rather see a liberal democrat or democrats in general take over and run the country. Remember obamacare? Remember you can keep your insurance? You'll see that on steroids for all kinds of liberal "pet projects" including the absolute insane mandates of "clean energy" or carbon "credits" (a tax that will hit the regular folks hard.) There's no such thing as clean energy, feel free to talk to the children in various countries toiling, suffering, and dying so the rare earth metals necessary for these "pet" projects like windmills and batteries for electric cars can be mined. Electric cars need.... Electricity.. Wonder how that's gonna work with power plants being shut down left and right; think the wind or the Sun are sustainable energy sources? We're not even close to there..

Just wait for "global warming/climate change/next b.s. phrase" to be declared a national emergency; wait for guns to be declared a "national menace and/or public health menace."

Look at the once great state of Virginia for a current example of what happens when the democrats get control; elections have consequences..

So go ahead and vote for biden or whoever the democrats put up because your incessant hatred for Trump has clouded your judgement.

I fear for my children and grandchildren...

Taking your optimistic solution and using it as your own is as dangerous as betting everything in a casino you just walked into and know nothing about the game you're playing. Science doesn't care about optimism, it cares about reality. The way Trump played his hand was smart at the beginning, but he just got dumb and downplayed it until reality was as clear as a stop sign 3 inches from a nearly-blind man's face. Of course a lot of other Americans were blind for longer. Panic was inevitable as well as the stores were being cleaned out of certain items early on. You can't use that argument. People will panic no matter what unless you oppress them to the point of being brainwashed. I'm not talking about everyone because there are people who played it smart and calm, but the masses will panic in any crisis.

I'm not a liberal. Cuomo has been fighting for his state to get proper help. Trump buried his head in the sand and ignored the problem.

Like I said one day. Either soon, years, several years. A civil war will happen on American soil. It will be socialist and patriots war. Americans will have to clean out the socialist garbage that is the cancer in America now.

What you see as downplaying it I disagree with 100%. Sure he could have done the Cuomo thing, rattled off the numbers every day and been done with it. He chose to play it calmer and not create a countrywide panic. Unfortunately Trump has to deal with a media hell bent on destroying him so they made the decision to create the panic for him. Dont believe it? Just go back and read this thread in a daily basis. Remember the old saying "never let a good crisis go to waste"? Well the liberal media pounced all over this one since impeachment didnt work out for them. These people dont care about anything but there target (Trump). They dont care about truth, facts or the liveleyhood of the people they lie to. Trump has many faults but if their is one thing he has absolutely mastered, its how to punch those scumbags right in the face.

I lost a close friend and comrade in Benghazi which has nothing to do with this virus (obviously). After going through the media covering up the truth of what actually happened and who knew it, I wouldnt piss on those worthless trolls if they were burning! They are every bit the enemy Trump makes them out to be and I will stand by that until the day I die

Sad to say, but you are correct. There is a great division in our country..... Those that want to live free, and those that want to give up their freedom to the government and live in Socialism. I never thought I would ever see this day. I am not sorry to say that I will choose Trump and choose to keep my liberty. Dear God, some of you folks have completely lost sight of what's really important in this world. What did our forefathers fight for? Did they die in vain? We may as well have stayed under England's rule if we were to embrace a socialistic outcome.

I just don't understand how anyone thinks this is what Trump did...he spent the entire month of Feb making statements that downplayed the threat to a extreme level. Trump could have just said they were monitoring it and focusing the US governments full might on any possible outcome and were prepared as best they could regardless of which direction the pandemic took and actually done those things..... However Trump did not do that he went around saying it was under control, there were only 15 cases soon to be zero, China had it handled....he said all these things when he knew that chances were it was going to be much worse etc....

This whole Trump was given bad info angle is also BS, there was US intelligence service reports showing it much worse as far back as mid to late Jan, the US knew that this was likely to be a big problem here and Trump actually decided to send PPE to China and to reduce a order for PPE for the national supply by 75%, Trump needed this to not be a issue to protect the economy so he presented it as no big deal......so the Trump didn't know angle well that dog wont hunt.

What is garbage? Obama and Biden did let people die in Benghazi. So he did not say it was worse than thought. Well if he had done that then mass panic would haBe been much worse. I find it hilarious that Some say Trump blew it. Yet those same ones screaming 2 million are going to die. Now they say well it’s because we shut down economy is why 2 million did not die. Always changing the stories to suit the overhype of this virus. Yet I was put down because I said it would ruin millions of lives and create poverty and homelessness and bankruptcies. Well those are coming true. Only thing left is the social unrest that is on the brink if we don’t open up.

Your idea of whats best for the country might match mine (I dont really know) but you obviously differ in who is best to get us there. That puts us at a crossroads so I am going to put myself first. I dont speak for Trump supporters I speak for me and my family. I put country first for over 20 years. Didnt really focus on the transformation that was going on when I was home. I honestly thought patriotism was alive and well. Boy was I wrong......
