Also, I think I am the oddball here politically. I am very left-wing economically but right-wing socially when it comes to topics like immigration, guns, abortion to a degree and so on.
 
Idgaf about politics, but at this point, enjoy the rest of the time before we get a new president, becuase things may change big time as in bad, or could stay the same, or even improve, i would honestly want to have trump back, and that’s just me, tbh I’ve felt comfortable as trump being president so far, even Obama, but some of these dems scare me a bit, I don’t keep track of this much but would y’all think joe Biden is somewhat similar to Obama ?

Joe Biden and Tulsi Gabbard are probably the best the Democrats have at this point as far as most of our points of view are concerned.. Most of the others are way to extreme right now, but I'm almost certain one of them gets the nomination. Probably Liz Warren or Kamela Harris. The extremists will do everything they can to destroy Biden and they took a big first step last night.

Biden is somewhat to the right of Obama, but well left of any Republicans, especially Trump. Trump never should have got the White House because it has opened the door for the very far left Democrats. Marco Rubio or Jeb Bush would have been better for the country.
 
The left has been going kinda crazy since like 2014 but after Trump got elected, its like most of them went completely pyscho. The worst has to been when they targeted a bunch of high school kids for smiling, doing school chants and wearing MAGA hats.

True, that's part of the reason we have a President Trump right now. A large portion of the people who support don't like him personally, they just like that he shows what they perceive as strength and bullies anyone who opposes him. I remember seeing a poll from just last year that showed Hillary Clinton was still more unfavorable/unlikeable than Trump. I shouldn't have been surprised, yet it still blew my mind, the hatred runs deep for her.

I don't mean this mean, but Biden looked like he was 125 years old. Even Bernie looked young comparatively.

Re: Trump, he won because he was able to sell himself as a non-politician change agent. A great many people still have yet to realize how traditional politics have alienated the general public. People are sick of it. They are sick of being lied to about all of the same issues over and over. They are sick of having to work two or more jobs for a lower standard of living. They are sick of intervening all over the world. They are sick of globalism. Trump was able to capitalize on this. That's why he won. And this is only going to get worse. We are nearer the end of the Experiment than the beginning, I'm afraid.

Bingo.

Trump won because a majority of the US gave the middle finger to the current political state and it happened on the left when a chunk of them boycotted HRC and on the right when they shot down the GOP in the primaries.

I voted for Trump in the Republican primaries back in 2016.. I told my friends that I was doing it to give the middle finger to everybody in govt, and I used to be in the establishment type Republican at least I thought.

The recent HBO miniseries Chernobyl, while an excellent story, is a good representation of the USSR in the mid 80s. You can absolutely tell gen Y has no clue about what can happen when you start implementing socialism.

Of course he was, he has a stated position on just about every issue, is brilliant, and is generally more libertarian. They don't want him anywhere near the nomination. He claims his mic was off when he was trying to jump in, is it true, who knows?
 
In religion and politics people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing.

So right now who does everyone think are the top 3 democratic candidates? I’m thinking Bernie, Warren and Biden are for now. I get the feeling they want Bernie to be the guy to challenge Trump because Biden makes too many mistakes and Warren does as well. I actually think Biden might would stand the best chance since he would probably moderate a bit to his real views if he becomes the nominee. I think he’s just trying to appear more liberal right now so he can have a shot... he seems to be a bit more moderate in reality though from what I can tell.

Ah some very true words right here. It amazes me how so many people form opinions on politics and other controversial issues without actually deeply studying both sides and taking a position after doing the research. Colleges and their background/family life appear to be some of the main avenues that influence people into what they believe these days it seems.

I’m guessing he’s partially referring to that other wx BB’s political forum, where there are a good number of mainly far lefties who always act as if they’re mad at the world, cussing up a storm, etc. I really wonder if a lot of their apparent anger is kayfabe/an act because I don’t understand how one could stay so mad all of the time. It seems surreal to me. RC knows exactly what I’m talking about. He tries to be civil there and yet he’s treated as if he’s a monster. Simeon gets similar nasty treatment. This anger has been nonstop since that forum started years ago meaning it will never end. In contrast, political discussions here have been quite civil so far. Crossing my fingers lol.

The incident I think Simeon is referring to is that Trump was asked his opinion about busing from a few decades ago, which he thought was merely referring to a mode of transportation to school instead of a way to integrate schools related to civil rights:
