Political Thread: The Sequel

Some parts of both of them. There is common ground somewhere between the 2 and that is where we need to be.
The part of "socialism" that people want is the one where they get paid the same as the people who innovate and work while playing on Instagram all day.

I think one serious solution is to raise retirement to 75 and lower Medicare to 55.

Thats just the thing - that is a deeply poor area. It's easier said than done. They know exactly what they did with that.
Dude, those counties surrounding Tuscaloosa County drive TO Tuscaloosa 3 or 4 times a month to go to Super Walmart. Are you telling me they can't make a quick stop for valid ID on one of their trips?

That's the only way my generation will see any retirement money. Sadly, that puts the retirement age near the life expectancy of a male.

Thats true, which is why I think having medicare at 55 would probably do more to increase health, ability to work, and life expectancy.

Dude, you have to think big picture. Why did the plant close in the first place? That is the question you should be asking. Oh, because free trade. Well whose idea was free trade? Round and round we go.

Stop with the greed arguments. Greed is what drives innovation, greed is why we can all sit around here having these conversations with technology that none of us had a hand in creating.
I've always wondered in relation to macro scale vs micro how much job loss their really is as a net number when factories leave the US. I assume it's still negative but you look at how the product has to enter the US be warehoused then distributed there has to be some new creation.

Yes, a decent majority of manufacturing losses create new opportunities and growth via logistics.

I'm just of the notion that if it is cheaper to build something overseas and ship it here vs building it domestically, we need to change our policies. The only caveat is if the raw materials are local to the foreign manufacturing.

I’ve never seen polls favor a democrat as heavily as they are rn. Kamala really did something for some folks. With that being said, what are your plans when Kamala wins?
I don't trust polls that showed her as the least popular vice president in history to now being favored. That being said, her winning is of no consequence because the people that actually run the country will continue to be in charge. I would anticipate more widespread war, more open borders, inflation, massive recession, bailouts, and another president who is barely seen by the public.

You want to know what I think Kamala did so well that allowed her to jump so much in the polls? It’s simple. Two things: she’s capable of performing POTUS duties until Jan of 2029 and she isn’t Donald Trump. I think that’s it in a nutshell. Her accomplishments as VP were imho negligible and that’s probably being kind. I think she did poorly regarding her involvement with the border issue, one of her main duties as VP. Plus she did terribly in running for Pres. in 2020. But none of that matters much to never Trump Republicans and independents like myself.

Can't wait to see those Capitol Gains Double Taxed. Not to mention that ole standard deduction kicked back to where it was in 2016. Have fun on top of the 25-50% price increases over the past 3.5 years. Winning/ Right?

For many non-Dem swing voters it’s a 4 year sacrifice that’s not so much based on likely policies. The policy changes may be short term painful I have to admit.

What Trump is doing at a press conference right now is what he should be doing every day. He is disciplined and reading from prepared notes going down a list of everything Harris has said in the past. I hope he can stay like this till Nov. Every day repeat everything Harris has said in the past and hang it around her neck.

Stay disciplined the next 80 days

Yeah it could have been anyone, people ( especially moderates and independents ) did not want a Biden/Trump rematch between two bumbling old men....the Dems gave them a option that wasn't and the moderates and independents jumped on it.
