This is a solidly favorable synoptic scale pattern for severe in the southern plains/western part of the southeast, interesting to see where that trough in Canada sets up

Yep. Sitting at 31.
29.7 and still slowly falling. We went below freezing at midnight so this should be a kudzu killer.

Did we do it ? Avoid a freeze at RDU, lowest looks like 35/29 so far , Charlotte briefly hit 32, north wilkesboro at 30/27 , Sanford is at 32/32 and has been there all night mostly .

I have a little patchy frost in the yard, but the lowest I've seen is 35. Temp got down to 37 last night around 9:30 and basically stopped. Funny, I did get down to 32 the night before but couldn't do it last night.
So as of 7am RDU got down to 33. Unless it dropped briefly right afterwards (which at posting is now) that will be the official low.
At this point I'm all in on the warmest November ever.

29.8 was the lowest here. Been below freezing since around 2 am.
Yep models stink for cool really disappointing
Lowest was 31.3 here. Feels good to have the first freeze logged.

Right on cue. ... first week November is our first freeze on average . Most Tennessee
