Pattern Morch

We are still close enough on the second weekend of March to keep watching. It Will no doubt be our last 3-4 day stretch of winter weather ( cold air wise at a minimum), as we roll off into spring/summer.

Saw there is a Train Conductor Job at a short line in "Ahoskie" NC ... I looked it up, its near the the snow capital of NE NC In between Chesapeake VA and Rocky Mount. Def gonna apply.

EDIT : The other Option is Croxton NJ (Hoboken/Jersey City) …. Yea let’s be honest I’d get stabbed within a week up there with my sarcasm and the types around there and NYC. Only a “….27” per year snowfall”

I lived in Ahoskie for 3 years growing up during elementary school years. Population 5k and somehow the largest town in about an hour in each direction. Used to have to drive to Rocky Mount to go to a mall. Or Greenville. Or Norfolk. Or Roanoke Rapids...

If you like small towns, go for it. But know it is definitely off the beaten path and not much going on economically.

Not shocking to see something appear here. I’ve liked this timeframe for a while at some potential but it kinda faded on modeling recently. But the setup isn’t terrible. Northern stream trough nearby and trailing cutoff. Could do better with the ridge spike out west

The 18z GEFS printing out 2+ inch means along the NC/VA border. That's something.

Seeing some support for this system (3/9) on the GEFS

Wildfire north Myrtle area. Carolina Forest area. Bunch evacuations.
This area is extremely fire prone. Unfortunately the housing developments aren't just encroaching but actively being built out into the stands of longleaf pine. Many of purchased with cash and only carry liability policies.

If there's one benefit right now it's that we're not yet in seabreeze season. With the shape of the coastline/inland topography and soils the seabreezes roar inland in Horry and Brunswick counties. It could easily push the fire westward at 30mph if we were a month later.
