Who you got? lol

Ppl will say GFS …. But I wanna see that EURO A.I that thing is so stingy 100% of the time if it has it I’m down lol by then

Found this for nostalgia sake. I was a Sr in HS and only had 2 classes that semester and fun fact …. Useless info but fact , I met my oldest son’s mother for the first time the night of this video we had our first date . “This really has that look of that classic I-85 special” man it’s been so long since anyone has said that lol

I always liked Matthew East, I Wish he would have stayed in the triad area instead of Charlotte. I follow him on X
I think a lot of us may pull a "rabbit out of the hat" storm sometime in March. It's just got that look and my gut feeling... lol

That was my first big storm in the forums! I was a junior in HS and we got 6”. Then we torched the rest of March, IIRC. It was also a widespread storm for much of the board, although sun angle and BL temps killed the storm for some who didn’t get consistently heavy rates in GA since the storm hit during the day for them. Luckily, it hit starting in the evening for us. It also poured down rain in the day leading up to the storm, too.

I was also around for the Inauguration Day 2009 storm, but it was only an inch in the Triad.

Yea it rained like crazy …. And in the Video he said at that time mods showed 4-5P on the changeover it didn’t happen till around 10 or so I believe but we still ended in 5-7” range officially. So very well could’ve been a monster had it changed over 6hrs earlier

The only winter storm where I got to experience thunder snow. ⚡❄️ That was a pleasant surprise. Despite switching over to moderate/heavy snow late morning/early afternoon we still got 4”.

The GFS and Euro are as different as day and night about the potential for another winter storm around March 10th. The GFS is showing something similar to what we just had on Feburary 19-20th and the Euro says what storm. That's a long way off and I know which model most if not all of the posters here would bet on.

Were you living in Mooresville then? I was living the University area and we went to heavy sleet for about 30 minutes just after 5pm and then 5:30 or so the changeover happened and it just started dumping huge flakes and everything was covered in minutes. Jim Cantore was doing live shots for TWC a few miles away and there was a loud clap of thunder during one. Ended up with 6.7”

GFS was pretty good with the last storm...pretty much locked in for the last 3 or 4 days before the storm.

Yeah if I remember right with that one areas north of Atlanta struggled with consistently heavy rates and struggled to get many accumulations as a result with warm soil / BL and the near / above freezing BL conditions (the soil was also very wet) but areas south and east of Atlanta got hammered with heavy rates and the snow piled up.

I think in the Triad we started with heavy sleet before changing over to snow pretty quickly. Was a great, beautiful storm. Heavy rates, didn’t last too long but it made for amazing photos the morning after. Then the March sun and warm(ish) soil temps and satiated, wet soil zapped it pretty quickly. That was a good lesson in how quickly 6” of snow can disappear lol!

The melt was that as fast down my way. Kept the ground mostly covered until Tuesday afternoon. Of course 3 days after that it was 80 degrees

Yeah it was so odd watching the radar that afternoon and evening and seeing the change over occur from southwest to northeast… got to love an ULL. I think the period of heavy sleet we had during the changeover really helped to cool the ground just before the heavy snow started.

True. I think I remember some areas south and even east of us got around 6”-10”. It was weird seeing the snow changeover happen SW to NE. I know it was supposed to do that since the 850 temps underneath the ULL were crashing/wrapping around from that direction, but still odd nonetheless. This isn’t great quality, I had to record it on a VCR, but I was like I have to record this. Who knows when the hell this will happen again. I might literally be dead the next time Atlanta sees thunder snow. 😂

I just watched some of your YouTube videos and man I miss the old days of the weather channel: not knowing anything about model watching and just going off of what TWC told me.

Well you’d know best since you are the enthusiast lol

All you had to do was live on a hill. Any bit of elevation meant all of the difference.

Searching through 12z model suit, and it seems 12z GFS has lost our storm for the 10th "Surprised" But there's only one spot in NC on the 12z CFS that has a speck of snow, If you guessed the mountains you guessed wrong. #moyock #elizabethcity

More than likely our last shot at snow is appearing on H5 on the EPS. Kinda fits a March like evolution. That initial trough that produces severe wx for the SE, it lifts and the height field behind is left squashed, then some trailing energy moves behind it with a small western ridge spike. Likely our last shot and the EPS is happy about it. Euro wasn’t far IMG_6226.pngIMG_6225.pngIMG_6227.png
