Tropical Major Hurricane Laura

If Laura makes landfall at 145 mph she would be the 2nd strongest hurricane to make landfall in Louisiana only topped by a 150 mph hurricane in 1856.
 
Its actually nocturnal maximum...but semantics...

If there's some mid level shear trying to infiltrate Laura, only real effect currently is apparently to nudge Laura towards the right a little bit. I think looking at latest Sat loop that the northerly turn is underway now...which if that's the case may spare Houston/Galveston TX... not so good for a large portion of LA coast
That gap of warmer cloud tops on the west side really cooled over the last few frames now it may be trying to rebuild the eastern side.
