If I'm looking at it right, the shortwave being weaker is helping pull Irma up Florida and into Georgia on the last couple of runs, so that may happen here too. Looks even less impressive, but there still.

Sub 900mb south of Nassau & into the FL straits isn't as far fetched as it was over the northern Bahamas, oceanic heat content is higher here, tropopause heights are a little higher, and there's actually historical precedent (Labor Day (1935) 895mb))
