Lake Okeechobee area will flood seriously if this track is correct, ugh disastrous track for Fla.

Yeah this run spells trouble for many. Costco up the road from me was already busy yesterday. Can't imagine what it would be like once the news channels update everyone.

Got 3 cases of water Monday because I had a bad feeling about it. Time to prepare for power outages I feel. If the GFS is right, maybe 2 or 3 days for some areas up here, unless Georgia power and the other companies are speedy.

Problem is many companies still have crews in Houston , I know Alabama power does . I'm assuming many states have already called them back

What were wind speeds for us on the GFS,

Hopefully it will stay to our east or we will be dealing with the tornado threat as well.

Having worked in the outage management field for 26 years, I can assure you that electric utility companies throughout the country are preparing to dispatch crews to help with assessment and restorations. Depending on the extent of the damage, it may still be a lengthy restoration time. When transmission towers/lines are taken out, restorations take quite a bit longer than when most of the damage is confined to the distribution systems.
 
Miami to the Savannah and Charleston area have been showing up for the past couple of days on the models. I think we have our track. Of course, Irma could have other ideas.
 
I'll add that if you happen to share a feeder with a hospital, police station, fire station, 911 center, or the governor of your state, your power will be restored first.
 
For Georgia (inland) flash flooding and high winds will be the greater impact. It's looking like there won't be tons of rain, but it will come down at a high rate in a limited time.

I believe I share one with a fire station and emergency center down the road. Only lost power for 45 minutes last ice storm a few years ago while everyone else had it for longer.
