Tropical Major Hurricane Harvey

The motion will have to be watched if this gets back over the gulf especially with the structure intact it could get ugly but it should meander around for at least a day or two

The nam is certainly interesting

Not good at all. This is going to be one costly disaster if this comes to fruition. However, it will provide beneficial rains to the region north and east of it and probably a pretty serious tornado outbreak with the bands. Wow! Let's hope not.

Yeah,if that happend it would be something. Pressure dropped on that pretty low

NAM may be crazy, but that is almost the exact solution the Euro showed days ago.

What is the odds, haven't had a major hurricane strike in twelve years, to then have two strikes by the same storm.

00z NAM takes Harvey way back in the gulf

Yeah, but it gives me rain from the other storm, so we know it's completely wrong! :)

NAM makes landfall Tuesday Night in Louisiana around Cameron

It's at the coast tomorrow evening so we won't be in suspense about whether it gets there long if it does take that route

I will say it has been drifting eastward most of the day so we'll just have to see if the motion holds

NHC at 10pm

At this time, the forecast
track keeps the center of Harvey inland, as there is not enough
agreement between the models that the center of Harvey will actually
emerge over water.

Already seeing reports from Houston of water levels higher than Allison, the benchmark Houston flood

and this is just night 1 of this.. radar is estimating 20+" in spots already...

Nothing crazy strength wise not like the nam's hurricane but an interesting trend anyway(gets about a day less over water)

TWC just showed astounding rain totals.. already close to 20" in some parts outside city limits. Wow! Even Houston itself is in double digits so far. Insane!

Judging by live streams there is a TON of people out driving in the middle of all this

I dont recall when a "compact" storm which ramped up so quickly, has ever stalled so completely... . As far as stalled rainmaker TS Alberto (94) over Georgia is closest I can remember

You got water temps approaching 90 degrees and precipital water reports of 3.5 inches. Not much was holding it back except land.
