Tropical Major Hurricane Florence

Agreed. Gotta keep watching that track, atleast for the next little while, Florence will not strengthen much if at all. Dry air is still causing issues.
Shouldn’t this affect the track and keep it more Southerly in track?? The weaker the storm, the less poleward pull it will feel?

Probably a little, mostly because it could delay expansion and size of the storm through ERC.

It may not matter if she deepens and is stronger than forecast by models. UK brings her down to 928, I hate to say it but that is plausible given the upper air setup and warm waters off the coast.

It looks like an anticyclone has been established now over Florence. This was well modeled and is forecast to grow in size and further ventilate her as she strengthens.

Twice actually lol. Moves into SW VA then moves back south into N.C. just a disaster for mountains and foothills/piedmont.
Could make Opal look like a drizzle storm! Very bad! Mountains already plagued with mudslides and flooding all summer!

Looking at the NHC forecast cone it looks it will NOT be a major hurricane shortly after landfall at 8am on Friday, so i'm guessing they are forecasting it to make landfall as a Cat 2 or maybe a weak cat 3 ?
