As I said, we really just need a good soaker from a tropical system. That's the only way to get more uniform rainfall amounts.

I've heard the winter snows there suck though, compared to places like Boone, Blowing Rock.. even though it's at a slightly higher elevation.

Compared to those places you mention it’s definitely less snow. It’s not really the snow totals that excite me though. I like a lot of smaller snows that cover things and I like to watch it fall. Highlands sees some snowfall on a whole lot of days in winter...last few years we have gotten at least one “big snow” of 6 or more inches and it stays around at this elevation. Also sometimes will just be a 1000ft hike from the house in maybe 90 mins time to climb to snow elevation when it’s nominal on temps.

That general area is beautiful and kind of underrated, really hoping that we don't shut down before early August because I'm going to try to come to the general area then for a couple days. Last time was at a vacation home in Cashiers (or maybe Cullowhee, I don't remember for sure) 11 years ago, this time we'll be staying in Sapphire.

To make this weather related, I've noticed recently that there's definitely a difference between the woods of what I'd call SW NC and Asheville in the temp predictions. I know elevation plays, but I'm guessing that Cashiers/Cullowhee/Sapphire being in the woods also does. Hopefully the heatwave in la la land goes away, because if it's as hot as the GFS has been suggesting early on, going in the SW NC woods is going to do nothing lol.

Cashiers will be on average 15 degrees cooler than Augusta I’d say. It will be nice and you will love it. The higher the cooler obviously and Cashiers is at around 3400ft with nearby peaks just over 5k that you can walk up to if your reasonably fit. Homes for rent at elevations up to 4500ft.

Do not think coverage will be too good south of I-85 in NC or SC today. Storms drifting north it looks like and storms in GA will mostly stay there. A few storms from Chesterfield county SC to near Augusta GA seem to be weakening and I do not see any outflow boundaries coming from then..The small showers and storms near Charlotte now may be it for today.
