July Surprise!

Hrrr is showing these storms later being around 50kft tall and normally it’s often higher than that, so that’s impressive, pretty good look To these storms today, wouldn’t shock me off we get a loosely organized cluster of storms with a stratiform region later

This forecast is screaming nowcast for who sees the worst of these storms.. lots of instability to work with but I think outflow boundaries will be the show of the day .. you get into an entanglement with them and you’re going to have a fun day

Good luck to everyone today. I will probably sit this one out. I know how this is most likely to play out. Raleigh will do this fine, CLT will miss out just in about every direction. Outflows will be around, but won't do anything other than cool it down 20 degrees thereby prohibiting thunderstorm development. (CLT metro.) Le sigh.

Actually have some ML LRs showing on the meso analysis today.

Hrrr shows DCAPE around 1000-1200 later with those storms, wouldn’t shock me if we see a handful of warnings

Interesting these storms seem like they could be widespread but a low chance of severe watch? Maybe they won’t be as intense as they look ... but I’m skeptical

Hrrrrrrr seems like it does this quite a lot. It shows nothing for the late frames. Then, as you get into it's medium range, all kinds of snow and storms and hurricanes show up. Then as you get into it's near term range, everything disappears again.

You can already see how this is playing out. Raleigh/Triad are golden. Storms firing all around. Then go to GSP radar, it's like a dome is over Charlotte. Little to no development. The NAM and are HRRR are on crack, at least for Charlotte.

Good thing I never had a chance today. Sorry its trending away from you. Yesterday I said my yard was on the cusp and after 2 days well into the 90s with scorching sun it's now on the other side of that cusp. I'll be looking at a 90% brown yard if I dont see rain In the next 2 to 3 days.
That sucks tomorrow looks good down your way

Yeah then only truly green spots I still have are the ditch bottom and near the little garden that's seeing water when I water the garden. It's going south quickly.
