Pattern Juggernaut June

another beautiful rainy June day here :p

a little band west of Houston dropped 10 inches earlier

does look like the weekend will be a bit hot

Models/ENSO as well as climo are telling me that the worst of the heat in terms of a combo of duration and intensity for the SE will very likely end up being the intense heatwave we just experienced and that nothing else will get close this summer. Keeping fingers crossed.
Something about like what the Southeast had in 1989 and again in 1994. Late May was dry with above normal temps, while Jun-Aug turned out to be wet and a little cooler than normal both years.

We all know what happened in Sept of '89. No thanks...

Not looking for that again at all. That was a once in a lifetime event. I remember that night very well though. The storm turned at the last minute and put me on it's west side. Still had winds up around 50 mph in gusts here with it.

Welp, day time temps are lower, but the tropical dewpoints are back. So it doesn't really feel much cooler, lol.

Hold up, high of 73 on saturday? i'll believe it when i see it

The biggest sleeper of this rain event is probably gulf coast rain forecast are pretty high for down there, wouldnt be suprised for some absurd rain amounts there. As well as the Appalachian mountains. IMG_20190605_184806.jpgIMG_20190605_184818.jpg

long range 18z HRRR has two swaths of high rainfall amounts one somewhere in central alabama and one near the gulf coast through late thursday early friday. Screenshot_20190605-185440_Samsung Internet.jpg

Just looked at the latest GFS and it has really upped the totals through next Wednesday. Widespread 6 inch totals. I am skeptical of this but I would appreciate it.51906C3C-F66D-4D12-A87A-5B8386B88348.png

If we are lucky the heavy totals along the Gulf will limit moisture north into the south-east. Maybe upstate SC or eastern NC will only see an inch or less in spots.

RAH has a chance of showers and storms here starting tonight and going all the way to next Wednesday.

If we are lucky, maybe.....nah, shut up, Rain Cold.
I'd be very happy with just an inch of so.... you can have the 6-7 inch totals. Give me dry weather over wet weather anytime
Plus I picked up 1.2 Friday and another .4 yesterday

Everyone wants to scream the sky is falling. It never happens. People will still be in desperate need for rain come next week. It will either be Simpsonville SC, Ashe County NC or Raleigh NC that underperforms. One of the three. Quote it. Bookmark it.

This seems like hyperbole. Maybe?

No one is screaming the sky is falling lol. Everybody is just excited for a change in pattern and some rain for once in awhile.

Tired of people like Robert saying all rain deficits will be gone. Mudslides. Roof collapses. He missed the GOM storm forming. Not to mention huge misses in winter storms. The people of Ashe County NC would like to know why no rain even reached the ground yesterday during initial wall of water and severe weather.

I hear you, but Robert isn't Everyone. Not very many people here are saying such things. In fact, according to one segment of our community, nobody is discussing weather at all.

Gonna have to eat crow
