The classic 300+ hour GFS icebox.
0z GFS throws in the Arctic sink past 300 hours. Then it tries to get a gulf coast low cranking on the last few frames to put the icing on that cake. Ahhh, weenie time.

GEFS throws up another jet extension and a Bigtime +PNA/-EPO 
Look at this thing going up it’s absolutely beautiful 
Very nice weather for preserving our snow pack
Just ran a loop of the Canadian Ensemble and I thought I was mistakenly looking at the GEFS because it looks exactly the same with western ridge / eastern trough....unreal
Euro about to hit again.
Wow the Euro is about to drop the icebox on us.

While I don’t have access to the models here’s the crazy thing that I see. AccuWeather app shows basically nothing for Saturday and Sunday for Durham, NC. Then the Weather Channel app shows a storm total of 4”-8” of snow. Now I know these apps, probably like the models, are volatile and until the storm, (if there is one), is right on top of us that’s when we know. I can only say that nature seems to think something is up.

No shortage of potential even after this storm .. by far the most active period winter weather wise on models than i have seen in some time in NC

Holy snowballs ! The pattern over the next 2 1/2 weeks is an open window for multiple winter storm threats . Some would be location dependent but I'd be shocked if we don't get at least one board wide threat outside of the coming weekend system

The last 100 hours of 06z gfs has like 4 storms that are close.

Ensembles are very active too. It’s honestly one of the best winter patterns I’ve seen in a long time.

The amount of storm opportunities on 6z GFS was pretty wild
I'll just self-promote (because that's the kind of guy I am) and plop this in here

12z GFS ending with another fantasy bang.
The GFS is legit mind boggling at H5. That Aleutian low will have us crying mercy if it verified.
It’s really hard for me to recall a time when we’ve seen run after run after run of consistent cold and above average pattern showing up like this on the modeling. I guess maybe Jan-Feb 2010 and Dec 2010 - Jan 2011, but dang

31 at my house this morning. Paused at 39 for quite a while.
Fyi the EPS is hinting at some more stuff, overall CADish look as well
