Wintry January 29th-30th ARCC Slam Dunk Winter Weather Threat

For my Midlands friends, if you were hoping to maybe at least end as some sort of flizzard, I've watched the SREF today and not one time has even one member indicated a ptype of snow or sleet. Pure rain.

If the SREF doesn't have at least one member trying, no go for us. It usually tries to have one rogue member, at the least, if there is any slight chance.
 
Heading to Birmingham tomorrow evening to stay with some family (but mainly to see snow ?)

Seems the GFS and FV3 want to have a streak of heavier precip running out of central MS and into the Tuscaloosa to Birmingham corridor. Both of their 0z runs place it almost identically. Could be a coincidence but maybe it’s keying on this area and it’s an area where we could see a 4” report. GEFS also seemed to have the same idea.
