Wintry January 21-23 2025

I'm tingling guys. I don't think I've ever seen a threat look this good 8 days out. The goal posts for this event are record breaking wide... and the players on the field are large-scale and shouldn't swing too wildly here soon.

I think our only fail mode is if the energy gets cut off out west and we don't get enough bend in the flow for an overrunning event, but even in that scenario, the gulf coast probably scores.

(Famous last words.... but I don't see how we rain from this look)

I don't think it can be overstated how wide our goal posts are here... we can have a storm come out literally 2-3 days later than the GFS shows and we still get a major winter storm,(maybe more icy than snowy, but still crazy.)

The track of the short wave can be significantly higher or lower as well, or more neutral/neg tilt, and it won't make much difference for us. We will winter storm either way.... we just need there to be a storm in general.

GEFS is incredible for a significant southern winter storm! This is how you wanna trend it at this length away. Sheesh I gotta move back home real quick!
Are you being genuine or do you think this is coming north? lol. I can see some north trends with the precip shield, but I don't see how we could wind up with a surface low tracking inland here.

I don't see how we get freezing rain with temps in the teens. No way....
We did get something close during the 2002 ice storm. But I agree, much more sleet would be realized, along with a stronger CAD. There's even some supported high pressure to the north. But a long way to go with this one.
