Wintry January 21-23 2025

NWS TLH forecast gives Tallahassee a solid shot at beating their all-time record snowfall of 2.8” set back in 1958.

EDIT: The all-time state record is 4” and could also fall further west in the panhandle.

Starting to the radar circle around FFC kinda shrink. Wonder if we’re close to seeing some ground truth in North Georgia

Its gotten significantly smaller pretty fast it seems. I am intrigued to see how this plays out now. I haven't seen any flurries(what few there were) since my last post in midtown, quiet and calm at the moment.

If this over performs... people are going to be caught off guard. The freeway is packed right now.

For those with an extensive history of weather, does this storm fit very well as an analog to the 1895 Valentine's Day Event? I think largely so, but with a better precipitation shield across Georgia/SC/Florida.

Just clouds under this band. Saw mping for snow near Woodstock but have to question it seriouslyView attachment 166353
Even if it's not snowing now, I'm watching the dry air collapse on the radar. The more of this we get the better. Moisture is surging N in west Alabama currently too so we're only getting started.

Dewpoints for the Cherokee County Airport station haven't really moved too much since this morning. Gainesville is even lower. Unsure why Gainesville updates every 5-10 minutes, but Cherokee only updates every 20m.

I am confused as to why this storm looks so steady heading northeast with a strong precip field to the northwest. Is this about to kick to a more eastward movement?

Been tracking this storm obsessively for 10 days. It's one hour before it "starts" here. And I don't have the slightest freakin clue if it's going to actually snow here or not. This is maddening.
Absolutely!! I missed to the south last event.. if I miss to the north this time.. we talking 1 county!!! Each time!! I believe I will have a meltdown!!

Your right parts of ATL/West Georgia aren't dead yet but your really gonna need to continue to have dew raise and moisture/QPF to really build back into AL and help that

If I am setting at 8 dew points under this and just aint getting to me... I aint getting snow today haha
You have to use the radar site closest to you….

Here is your situation…

It is snowing a couple of thousand feet above your head, but you are still very dry below the DGZ
