How concerned should we be that all hi-res models are giving nothing west of a line from Augusta to Columbia to Raleigh? The RAP looks especially awful

light liquid, mix, and snow showing up on radar from corpus christi to San Antonio. It needs to fill on in!
I’m noticing a trend, the orientation is gradually becoming more SW > NE because the noticeable trend at 12z with more northern stream interaction. Need that to continue if we want more lift/dynamics and SW flow aloft and anything to break through that low level drying on NW fringes

AFD this afternoon is leaving the afternoon crew to decide on WSW or advisory issuance. Blanket coverage 1 to 3" should do for now IMHO.

3 or so. But there's gonna be a gradient. Feel like the areas just away from the coast (James Island/West Ashley/Mt. P) gonna be heaviest. Sleet and freezing rain on immediate coast will cut down and lighter returns further inland.
Not ready to call for more yet. This is a nowcasting storm for us
Man CAE ain’t budging. Didn’t even bring a WWA close to Columbia. Not saying they are right or wrong.

I was surprised at their recent discussion saying precipitation was drying up on recent runs. But they also didn’t call a winter storm warning for the Lexington area until after the sleet was on the ground 2 weeks ago. Went from an advisory straight to the warning.
The kind of thing that can cause massive jumps in precip all of a sudden seemingly out of nowhere

DOT is heavily brining roads in Chatham County North Carolina
Definitely a 50ish mile tick it would appear. Good for areas on the edge.

Nice tick north for us right on the fringe. Could be a difference between getting northing and a decent storm

I’d have to think a Winter Storm Warning is going to come out for their whole CWA later this afternoon. It may not be much snow, but it’ll be a lot of wintry precip.

Yeah. that's a flaw in the NWS mapping -- its bringing to the front a cold weather warning even though a Winter Storm Watch (almost certainly converted to a warning with the afternoon package) was issued yesterday.

Thru 26 hrrr nothing special
Hrrr looks better at H5 and everything aloft looks better, but its dewpoints are very low. Its BL mixing bias don’t help either.
