Lol I wish I didn’t have to leave Tuscaloosa but when my job offered me more money with a 40 percent raise and a better position to move I couldn’t turn that down my heart and soul is still in Tuscaloosa especially since I have plenty of family that’s still there...

We get some good deep and fresh snow pack to the NW just prior to mid January we are gonna be really helping lock ourselves in to something amazing the following week or so with some synoptic luck
Trying not to go all-in mentally on the Jan 11 deal but damn how can I not. It’s close. Per GFS, move that low pressure out out of the NE faster allowing High pressure to build in and we’ve got a big boom.

I mean I guess the moral of the story and general idea is this forthcoming pattern looks like it will be fully capable of producing snow for folks on the I 20 corridor

I was at 60 degrees @ 2pm Christmas Eve and at 34 with moderate snow at 6pm. Things change fast in the SE.
CMC had a low squeezed off to the south at the end of the run

Regarding the upcoming favorable pattern, are we talking possibility of a Big Dog for NC/SC?
If that pattern verifies then there is a chance of a big dog snowstorm.

GEFS is trending towards sending the tropospheric polar vortex into the CONUS just after mid-month.

Raleigh to Roxboro cold hole in full affect , any direction be it north south east or west of the cold hole is significantly warmer . I don’t think I’ll be breaking 50 anytime soon given the 10 day or seeing the sun . Today was supposed to be sunny but forecast changed and now even tomorrow is cloudy. This is horrid weather .

GEFS driving the 0C 850 line down to the I-20 corridor already in the extended & keep in mind this is a dampened ensemble mean w/ a strong long range warm bias.

Without a shadow of doubt, mid-January looks like the best hand we've been dealt for cold/snow since 2010. Hopefully we play our cards right.
A month ago I was honestly thinking we’d deal with a southeast ridge in January/February, blocking/SSWE has completely shredded that theory apart

Yep once that sets up its just a matter of time, I feel pretty good we all get 100% of our seasonal average in a pattern like that...could easily get 2-3 winter weather events in 15-20 days mid to end of Jan into early Feb.....
I am not a fan of storms modeled 10 days out, I like the Baja SW's the models handle poorly till its inside of 5 days and all of sudden there is a true GOM Miller A with established deep cold air.....the south trend is a real thing in a pattern like this as well....a lot of storms end up further SE than modeled early on, seems like there is a tendency to take everything up the coast in the 7-10 days range versus more ESE OTS closer in.

Lol holy crap look where the 0C 850 line is south of I-40 already on the GEFS beyond 300 hr.
Coldest mid Jan GEFS run yet in the SE and keep in mind as @Webberweather53 and I have been saying that it has been warm biased at 2 m: so to see marginal BN moving in is impressive!
