Light snow in Madison, AL. The local news said 2-4", so maybe it will pick up soon. At this rate it would take about 2 years to get to 4"! ?
Looks like they are moving up the impact time for Gadsden for around noon.

I'm just outside Chattanooga in Signal Mountain (about 1900' in elevation), we have about 2-3 inches so far. It's snowing moderate to heavy at times while we're sitting around 29 degrees. Over performing the meso models so far. One thing I've noticed is that the NAM and HRRR are initializing temps and due points 2-3 degree to high here. If that holds up, we'll continue over-perform in the higher elevations around Chattanooga.
EDIT: Just as I sent this, we transitioned to a sleet/snow mix. We've been back and forth on p-type all morning.

serious quest..when i get under heavy returns the snow is big flakes but kinda hard and loud..whats up with that?

More water content.
Probably some sleet and grapple mixing in. The later show up as enhanced radar returns too.
