My next neighbor who is a retired Navy and NWS meteorologist has said the exact same thing before. He says it’s especially the case when the pattern is very active with a lot of energy flying around because the models have a tough time find the right pieces to key in on. He says that when it’s like this, he wished you could just get the old print out model charts that just basically showed the H5 pattern past 2 or 3 days out because seeing a pattern that should be producing something but not showing up on surface depictions is very frustrating

This run looks better wrt the actual S/W, but not the N/S in the NE
But still seems to lose it. But this run better then last one. IMO. 
I will take it compare to 18z. Plenty of time to get better.

I wonder why it keeps drying up around the Memphis area. That’s quite an expansive area over OK/AR.
Interestingly the GFS now has a Baja vort this run.
Still trying to do something at hour 120. 
Maybe one the Mets in here can answer that. But I think the wave gets strung out or suppressed.

It’s a great trend but feels a day late and a dollar short on this one. Unless we pull off the impossible in the Carolinas and we close it off and it makes it’s own cold air ?

The CMC is digging way more south and west than the GFS.
CMC has a lot of western Atlantic ridging Vs other models but it’s doing similar things with the energy, slowing down/better tilt. Probably a good run for the NE
