The energy gets out ahead of this thing anymore and the northern upstate is about to start looking at snow according to the GFS. This now has snow all the way down to the border.

The GFS and other models as well have been trending slower with the southern energy and faster with the northern energy. This allows more cold to filter in and helps maximize how much QPF falls as snow.

Are 10:1 ratios with this system realistic ? Or is it expected to be higher or lower ?
Is this really happening lol, if the NAMs jump on Board soon We might have a legit winter storm with this one itself, GFS is probably overdone but damn lol

Another case of models harping on a fantasyland storm to drop it then bring it back to some degree.
Lower. Temps will be in the mid 30s

If it happens, I would also consider it a win for the GFS Para, which was further south sooner than other globals.

I gotta believe that if everything else is there as far as thermals that even under that yellow over the eastern part of CLT, that would still be some very intense snowfall. Could the GFS actually score a big one here??
Clear snow sounding, and not particularly close. Interesting!!!
If the GFS is right on temps, RDU will fall sharply to 32 as the heavy snow starts. Then it will fall a few more degrees as the storm winds down. Also this will occur overnight, so ratios very well could be 10:1. Looking at the 10:1 maps compared to the Kuchera there's not a huge difference (8" vs 7"). **that's if the GFS is correct.
