We’ve been below zero since about noon Saturday. Hit 0 for a high today, back down to -10 tonight , then 12 for a high tomorrow. Everything is frozen stiff! Maybe some mid 30s next week!

I was just noticing that. The snowpack there is really allowing them to refrigerate. I think it’s impacting us down here. I’m at 15.4/9.3, lower then 13 is possible.

Wundermap showing an anomalous cold pool already forming down in northern Mississippi tonight. Gonna shatter some records. Plumbers gonna be busy next week when this moves out.
 
Pretty amazing the spread of temps. Truly some historical lows for some, especially with the snowpack. Outside of the mtns, most of the Carolinas looking like a pretty run of the mill low for a mid Jan front though. Coldest I can find in SC is 11 at both Ceaser's Head and Sassafras. A couple other scattered teens but mostly low to mid 20s at midnight. Mtns and snow areas of TN, MS, AL a different story with tons of single digits and below zero.

Areas around McMinnville TN are winning. Saw one station reading -15 but many pushing the -10 threshold currently. IMG_6148.jpeg

From what I can tell this is only overdone for N MS and AL. TN seems to be that cold in those areas. Definitely underdone for GA as many far NW counties are hitting near 0 this morning.
 
that’s a legit torch showing up. Lows in the 60s, days with dews in the low to mid 60s. It’s a muggy swamp ass torch. Even exciting cape just off the airmass alone.
