Of course the CMC is overdone with the cold but even adding 10 degrees to the temps still makes it a legit CAD event. But it’s all about getting the TPV further south for us to have a legit cold air feed.

parent high has origins from continental canada and in this run the previous storm bombs over the atlantic and cranks in some pretty robust cold air advection. now, the canadian is *also* projecting pristine radiational cooling conditions which... good luck. but overall i think there's an argument for some chilly temps to precede this storm

Gotta say, ICON + CMC + UKMET are similar. GFS feels like an outlier at the moment

Icon is different honestly, it’s winter storm setup Is rather an extension of the TPV near the lakes suppressing the whole height field, Vs the 50/50 doing work. That would be a more snow setup. The UKMET/CMC are more mixed looking with the ridge axis cutting through the GLs (CAD)

I would watch the Wednesday night system. The models are playing catch up with the northern stream wave and it's digging it more. The CMC phased and did that surprise run. GFS was close but no bueno.
