That's some pretty chilly air showing up around midmonth got to think some of that finds it's way into the SE.

The big news is the Sierra Nevada mountains. Somebody else mentioned the heavy snow potential yesterday. The latest euro out at day 10 has spots coming in at over 10 feet.

Here's day 10 in inches (and again it's not showing in text the highest totals):

Funny thing was in September weather “ scientists “ talked about a major snow drought being extended this winter…..oops

Ski resorts around Lake Tahoe have snow in the forecast 15 out of the next 16 days. And we’re not talking flurries. Big numbers coming
 
Well, looks like our week of 60-70° January Temps is around the corner. Happens every winter. This winter it's a nice reprieve from the frigid week we just had... normally it's just the last nice week before the coldest part of winter sets in.
Other then the extreme cold the Catolinas (outside of the mountains of course) saw a pretty boring December.... hopefully some snow events are just ahead....

I did. One model run showed over 60inches within a 24 hour span. Need a wx chaser up there to video.
