Tropical Hurricane Ida

Some people are also terrified to leave their belongings behind and have people come loot their houses. I know that's not a great reason to stay but I think a lot of people have that mindset.
You won’t be able to enjoy your TV and PS5, when your dead

This will likely be like Harvey and Michael in that it intensifies all the way until the eye has made landfall. Not sure it reaches cat 5 but it’s going to be close.
Unfortunately it would have to stop intensifying to not make Cat 5, it's devastating either way

At this rate thats its deepening, and the fact we look to only have about 3 hours til landfall .. it just might attain it in the next hour or so...

Absolute nightmarish scenario...
IF IF IF there's one saving grace is that yesterday while Ida did not have days like Katrina to build a CAT 5 storm surge, the surge will still potentially be catastrophic

Nw side of the storm needs some work to get to cat 5, eyewall there needs to strengthen and solidify some to get that strong. Either way though it’s going to be extremely destructive.

Little better quality, started out 60 miles out, about 30 now and NW aimed right at Grand Isle maybe just left

Wow and I thought this was going to hit late tonight but this will actually be a daytime hitting hurricane .. which means those videos … get ready to see some unbelievable images from these brave storm chasers
I wonder if TWC is relocating some of its reporters based on this morning’s events??

Does look quite as impressive as it did. But I really fear for places like Grand isle. COVID shouldn’t be considered when making life saving decisions when it comes to a serious storm like IDA!

Nice little north wobble last few frames.....folks in New Orleans sweating those wobbles....parts of the metro are already going to get hammered but a shift of just 10-15 miles at this point could have major implications for winds, the worst winds are on the NE side and well so is New Orleans.

A few dry slots showing up. What do they call these in hurricanes?

It called a moat, the storm has a secondary wind maximum....eventually that would probably take over and Ida would pop a monster eye in a day or so if LA had not got in the way....

Thank you I knew there was a name for it just didn’t know what that name was.
