I've never seen blocking across the pole modeled like this. That piece of PV is locked across eastern NA. Not a great pattern yet for winter storms, but that is blasted cold.

Yeah GFS just spits out whatever in this range. I'm confident the GEFS will stand its ground

Big take away is this, that was an extremely cold run. The blocking across the pole is amazing as is the massive western ridge with no sign of ending. For the first time in years this is getting exciting about this pattern.

I'd rather have a cold pattern with occasional flurries/dusting events than one big event with marginal temps.
