Mountains are literally good for NADA. ILol some of the initial low-level cold air on the backside is getting blocked by the mountains.

We are good at one thing. Failing.Looks like the low-level melting layer towards the end of the storm is at least 3000-3500 feet deep in central NC, you really want that above freezing layer near the ground in cases like this to be no more than 1,500 feet to even have a sniff at snow.
Analfrontal?Clear trend here, this is good for VA but not for NC unless maybe we can get something at the end ? View attachment 55862
But if it was a month later.......
White rain and sleetEven colder rain?
If cold air was available, it would do one of two things... it would either cut or suppress and leave us dry.But if it was a month later.......
Imagine spending millions and millions of dollars developing a state of the art weather model and then you say “finally, I’ve done it!” and then your model spits out this kind of crayola snow model output on the first dayView attachment 55867
I really miss the good model snow
FWIW that run was mostly ZR and Sleet.View attachment 55867
