Southern shortwave seems weaker and slightly slower at hr 48 compared to last night's 00z. I'd say the weaker part is a good thing

At 96 our low is actually slower than last night but also weaker. HP is about the same. Really similar

Certainly helps to have some of the heavier front-end precip during the coldest part of the day. Diurnal timing could be key here for many to get that extra degree or two necessary to go over to SN/IP/ZR.
Euro recap. Still good for WNC. Most winter storm chase cold air and it’s usually colder and harder to warm as modeled in the CAD. Few more days of no sleep.

I think this is definitely an improvement vs last nights run

Yep def a good run. NC folks look to be in great shape. Plenty of days to trend better also
Also Cad areas is colder and high pressure is in the Northeast which is good.!
The sfc low looks to hit the breaks once near the Gulf Stream
Euro has potential for 1-3 feet. If everything goes just right and notices the cold air in the hills.

I may be traveling to the Mount Rogers VA area for this one. I think last minute north trends will occur. Anyone else booking anything yet?
Notice how the 850 low continues to shift south with every run?

GSP and the NC border counties in SC and points north did well, lots of mixing issues there verbatim but it's superfluous at this point
I know these are clown maps but could this actually be a historic storm for some people ? Still have time for changes but just noting

Euro clown map, need to severely temper these down outside of the far western piedmont verbatim but still nice in any case.

That's not uncommon to see for Cherokee County, NC during CAD, they're on the western side of most of the apps.
