Another pretty nice run from the Fv3 for the NC/SC border and points north.
And the FV3 is not gonna disappoint oh my goodness the clown map is stupid

Welp, there goes the last of the pants, all of them exploded already even if I know this is probably more likely to be an IP fest here than snow.
I noticed that the ukie new gfs and somewhat gfs trended weaker with the low tonight.
Has there ever been a storm where every single county in NC got snow ?

I know Chatham/Durham/Orange/Wake will be a sleetfest. Honestly I'm just excited to see such a broad storm this early.....if it verifies.

Doesn't FV3-GFS have some issues with snowfall maps? Apparently the amounts are way overdone, at least on TT

It happens from time-to-time probably once every few-several years or so. December 2010 was the last such event I'm aware of, before that it looks like February 2010 & then January 2002

Only area of the SE I would be confident in locking in is the NC mountains and foothills....maybe the western third of NC as well. Everywhere else is still a question mark.
Northern AR and NW TN also, unless you dont consider that the SE.

AR is def not the SE....that is more like the southern plains. TN, I guess? I usually consider the SE to be the South Atlantic States and Alabama.

The last avalanche to occur in the Blacksburg service area of NC, VA, WV was in 2015. Thought it might be worth mentioning given the expected qpf and thaw expected.
I’ve got a feeling we will see our southern wave trend weaker in the next 48 hours. It’s really juiced up and most likely overdone imo. I’ve seen more storms trend away from amplification than towards it. Things should get interesting tomorrow

It most definately is. Totals might be suspect from time to time, but thermals its been money. Gfs says 8 inches of snow, NAM says hold on, warm nose will give you a sleetfest, and youre gonna get sleet.
