Wintry Dec 8-10th Winter Storm

That's not the same low, that's the secondary low.
Yea and the EURO and Control run does the same thing...transfers energy to the secondary low close to the Ga coast and it crawls along the coast from there. As 850s drop this puts back end snow across N Ga and places NEward.

Is there something wrong with TT maps, why isn't the p. type showing as well on the 18z GFS like what the weather nerd site is showing? Also, the timing is off.

Keep in mind the "ptype maps" on weather nerds are more "gridded" and will show the potential precipitation type "IF" there was still ample moisture. It's not 100% set in stone by any means.

For example, you see all that orange in SC even to the coast? In theory that's showing a sleet and rain mix. It's a little confusing though..

Don't know what to make of this low transformation. Keeps us in the duration longer, but robs us of some of the heavier precip totals.

If you’re wondering if the snow map is bogus wrt Ptype, nope. Snow liquid equivalent is 1.5-2” for many areas in Central NC. What a run. Save the 18z image....runs like these only happen every few years, even if the storm doesn’t work out.

Says it absolutely can’t/won’t happen!

Meh, it’s gonna start as rain, that transition to anything frozen, can be painful to wait on and cut way down on snow/ice!

Wouldn’t most of that end up as sleet in Raleigh?

It's very close but keeps trending colder and this run was mostly snow, thermals appear to support that this run..... but it's Cen NC the warm nose is always lurking

Of course on his tease to commercial, he shows the 18z GFS, CJ what a bafoon!
