Had a judge who was strong Baptist; never smoked a wiff or touched a drop in his life; died in his mid-50's of combined lung and liver cancer. Had a grandfather that started smoking at age 6 and God knows what he drank ... died at 86 when he fell out of the top of a pecan tree he's climbed (shimmied up) to shake nuts ... I believe it's far more than what you do or don't ... genetics????

True, my great grandma died at 96. She smoked every day and smoke the day she died. Genetics play a huge role when it comes to cancer. My belief that is.

Way ahead of you! Additionally, we are replacing the normal greeting time with a special time of prayer. We will also not “pass the plate”—people can give in a box or place their offerings in the plates as they enter/exit.

We have also told the elderly, those not feeling well, and those with underlying conditions to stay home.

Soo, how many stubborn old timers do you expect to show up anyway? (half kidding-half serious)

Also, I can't find much about what we did in the US to contain Spanish Flu. All I know is Wilson was president, and it didn't come from Spain. #propoganda

We should do what Milwaukee did back then:

"Clergy weren't pleased that in October 1918 the churches were closed, while saloons were not"
???

There's going to be some stuff thats going to make it hard to smile in the future. But for whatever you see, through all the rain and the pain, you got to keep your sense of humor. You got to be able to smile through all this --------! Remember that. Keep your head up. Tupac Shakur

Absolutely every Male on my mother's side of the family had some form of cancer for at least the last 3 generations 0 females. I was diagnosed 10 years ago. If I have children I hope its a girl to not pass this on

Where are we at in the us entering March 15th compared to where Italy, Spain where say 2 weeks,3 weks ago? Like our numbers today overlayed over the italy number of cases. Its pretty bad there now, trying to see the history of time as they ramped up,spiked posotive cases.

In my county in sc. there is zero cases of the virus. Why would church shut down for zero cases?

If church does not shut down then older people should stay home but...... Norway cases kinda throw that thinking in the garbage. Since half of their cases that are in icu are below 50. In other words as we should have all learned by now. No cases or symptoms does not mean that someone is not carrying it. Guess it’s like Russian roulette for those that want to take a chance. I say to those that do. Make a room with the virus on every surface and in the air and let them sleep in that room. See what happens to them.??‍♂️ Let them become the test subjects!

So 2 countries now with patients under 50. What is changing about this virus? We’re the other countries lying.

What's your source on Norway?

Also, we may want to assume good faith about other countries reporting unless we have reason to think otherwise. (like say, we should probably be a bit suspicious of Iran and Russia's data for example)

Wow. I had looked up Spanish Flu awhile back but hadn't read anything about this previous 1889-90 epidemic. I knew there was a 2nd wave of Spanish Flu affecting young adults and that stronger immune system somehow made it worse. But I just assumed it was solely because of abnormal conditions from WW1. I need to read this article.

Also, I can't find much about what we did in the US to contain Spanish Flu. All I know is Wilson was president, and it didn't come from Spain. #propoganda
My neighbor when we spoke today is a historian teacher. He said the Black Plague came outta China. No idea if that’s right.

Someone posted it earlier in the thread. Let me find it

I know that it came somewhere from in Asia and traveled along the Silk Road the Europe. China sounds about right.

I found this. Working on finding the tweet.

Thank you sir.

So that appears to be roughly a 50% infection rate for those younger than 50. This could mean Norway is testing more younger people than other countries (who are likely giving priority to older people based on trends including ours). These numbers aren't listing deaths or critical rates.

France is showing that half of cases there are less than 50 in critical care. While this is concerning, they aren't deaths and could just be an anomaly.

Sure, it could be a new strain. But we really don't have enough data yet.

Always liked Tupac. One of his best ones. Also Dear Momma. I love that 90’s rap scene. Ice Cube, Dre, Tupac, Biggie, Wu Tang, Obie Trice, D40. Not to mention R&B like Keith Sweat, SWV, TLC, Brian McKnight, Brownstone. Man. Taking me back. I miss that stuff. Gonna have to have a 90’s R&B/rap fest tomorrow.

What were you diagnosed with & kicking its a$$ all over town for 10 years? I have leukemia, stage one and no spleen. Congrats on winning the battle.

Also, we really need to avoid mentioning the plague. It's really not applicable to today no matter what country it came from in the 1300's (or whatever century it started in the Middle Ages).

It was same for Norway half in critical

New mutation?

There are already a few different strains (or to better put it scientifically, there's been at least 2 or 3 different types that have been isolated by doctors in the last few months, this virus is actually another, milder type of SARS overall I believe), and its thought the one circulating in Europe and maybe Canada is the one that's more virulent.

But this I think can get involved in what I'd be concerned about in the long, very long term. Watch the next year or so... We'll likely peak with the coronavirus types that have been affecting us in the next couple months overall as a world. Then we'll start to taper down...at some point within a year we'll have a vaccine that's effective, and the people that are riskier will use it. Over the coming years, people will slowly start to forget some of the things that happened in 2020, outside of some patting on the back of the actions taken to calm things down.

Then 10 years from now, watch another version of SARS emerge from China that is more contagious than the one from 2003 and acts a lot like the SARS from 2003, which was more dangerous and I believe affected all ages. It's a little tin foil hatish, but we can't rule that happening out.

I talked to my mom today and she said that the last time they cancelled schools like they did now was during the Polio epidemic. She said that they has to start school in late October and lost their entire Spring and Christmas break. Luckily we have technology now and kids don’t need to worry about making up the days now.

I think....cant remember 100% that they then tested a man who had died earlier in Feb at the nursing home and he was positive

Gotcha. That must be one of the cases that CDC guy was talking about when he said they posthumously confirmed Covid. Thanks for that, very interesting.

If that's right, that's definitely concerning as you said.

I'm just saying the table you quoted showed total cases and not critical (unless I misread it). Maybe you saw a different table or source on twitter? If you find it, link it.

I would also have to wonder if we have an idea of what strain is in America or if their all here. With this virus right now I think the biggest fear is the economy in general but with how crowded cities are getting it was only a matter of time before a disease got going and even if this one never gets that bad what about one that’s worse than Coronavirus

I think that was the person who died in Wohan. BBC lists the first US death March 1st.

This article is date stamped Feb 29th and discusses the first death at Kirkland. So it was sometime before March 1st. I am still looking for that article about the early Feb death.
