Hmm, could that mean that the number of US cases and deaths that have already happened from this could possibly be higher?

It could mean this has been in the US for a long time, one study said that it was possibly circulating in Washington at least 6 weeks before the first confirmed case. This article indicates that since China knew about this and covered it up then it was likely spreading and making it's way into the US by December or early January. There could be a number of cases that have been diagnosed as the "flu" that were actually related to this.

>>>>>> The new Coronavirus may not show sign of infection for many days. How can one know if he/she is infected? By the time they have fever and/or cough and go to the hospital, the lung is usually 50% Fibrosis and it's too late. Taiwan experts provide a simple self-check that we can do every morning. Take a deep breath and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds. If you complete it successfully without coughing, without discomfort, stiffness or tightness, etc., it proves there is no Fibrosis in the lungs, basically indicates no infection. In critical time, please self-check every morning in an environment with clean air. Serious excellent advice by Japanese doctors treating COVID-19 cases: Everyone should ensure your mouth & throat are moist, never dry. Take a few sips of water every 15 minutes at least. Why? Even if the virus gets into your mouth, drinking water or other liquids will wash them down through your throat and into the stomach. Once there, your stomach acid will kill all the virus. If you don't drink enough water more regularly, the virus can enter your windpipe and into the lungs. That's very dangerous. Please send and share this with family and friends. Take care everyone and may the world recover from this Coronavirus soon.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - CORONAVIRUS

1. If you have a runny nose and sputum, you have a common cold

2. Coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough with no runny nose.

3. This new virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed by a temperature of just 26/27 degrees. It hates the sun.

4. If someone sneezes with it, it takes about 10 feet before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne.

5. If it drops on a metal surface it will live for at least 12 hours - so if you come into contact with any metal surface - wash your hands as soon as you can with a bacterial soap.

6. On fabric it can survive for 6-12 hours. normal laundry detergent will kill it.

7. Drinking warm water is effective for all viruses. Try not to drink liquids with ice.

8. Wash your hands frequently as the virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but - a lot can happen during that time - you can rub your eyes, pick your nose unwittingly and so on.

9. You should also gargle as a prevention. A simple solution of salt in warm water will suffice.

10. Can't emphasis enough - drink plenty of water!

THE SYMPTOMS

1. It will first infect the throat, so you'll have a sore throat lasting 3-4 days

2. The virus then blends into a nasal fluid that enters the trachea and then the lungs, causing pneumonia. This takes about 5-6 days further.

3. With the pneumonia comes high fever and difficulty in breathing.

4. The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You feel like you're drowning. It's imperative you then seek immediate attention.

This is exactly what I said yesterday or day before. Will we be willing to Sacrifice elders and people for the future of America and our kids?
Absolutely. They would want us to. I know my parents would die for their kids, and grandkids, chance to live. They've given their whole lives to that end. It is a noble thing. Besides, not all of them are going to die from this, but all of them are going to die relatively soon...

We need to get back to living and find our courage. The panic must stop!

I am a kennel manager for Birmingham area animal hospital. Spring break is one of our tdd busiest times of the year for boarding. All day I have been getting calls and emails about people needing to cancel boarding and having a difficult time filling those spots from my waiting list.

I havent said its not a big deal. I simply said the flu is still hear. Its killing people still. Its a bad thing to mention flu killing people?
K. Saying this is basically “all just panic” is the same thing as “not a big deal”. Maybe you forgot the part where the coronavirus has literally just gotten to the US while influenza has been around for decades (w/ slight variations every year) let that sink in for a moment before you make another narrow-minded comparison the flu virus.

Major sports cancelled, national Emergency declared..this is going to be a relatively slow transition. The full plot hasn’t yet been realized. There will be more to follow. Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. There’s an effort right now not to crush the stock market going into the weekend.

This is a great press conference in my opinion. Testing background explained. Drive thru testing in Wal Mart parking lots setting up, reps from Walgreens, CVS, Quest, LabCorp, Roche all in attendance and speaking. The market is taking off on this message. This is the type of approach I think a large portion of America has been waiting on. ?

If you dont care for my narrow minded comparisons there is always that ignore button.

If you get a chance to do a summary, would love to see your thoughts. Unable to listen to it right now so I'm in the dark on what is being said.

You can’t make this stuff up.
Davenport IA police had to be dispatched to a Walmart to help crowd control over a truck being unloaded with toilet paper! A friends son is officer that was called.
Also hospital in Iowa has set up triage just for virus patients.
Also only Essential personal allowed in hospital

Anyone else notice that yesterday when things were happening like every 2 seconds that their office phones stopped ringing or slowed down big time? Same thing today since the President came on air. Maybe it's just me? I haven't had this happen since 9/11.

Definitely makes sense to get the big box retailers involved, in terms of simplifying the logistics of establishing the testing sites if nothing else. Also glad to hear Google is developing a pre-screening website to help keep the drive-thru testing sites from being overwhelmed.

And don't forget teaming up with Google.

By Sunday there should be a website up and running (sounds like partnership with Google). Americans can go to the site for basically an online triage and see if they need to get tested based on symptoms. If yes, the site will direct you to a drive thru test site. CVS, Walmarts, etc. will have them in their parking lots. It's all great news IMO. We are seeing the power of America here. I've been the biggest griper on this site so I'm extremely happy to see these steps. Yes, it's a little later than some of us hoped but it's exactly what doctors are saying we need. Combining the private sector with the public entities is probably the biggest takeaway and one of Trumps strengths. It's the most unified and coherent press conference we've seen since this started. Real plans actually being enacted.

Wrapping up with Americans making short term sacrifices for long term gains. Next 6-8 weeks most critical.

Damn market just went up 10%. Haha Love it.

It’s probably been here a while but since testing has been an issue the numbers haven’t really reflected it

I was hoping for a 30% drop so I can buy a truckload. Maybe it will trend "more panicky"? Like storms trend north?

Wow that all sounds like really good news, a bit delayed but it sounds like Trump/Pence have a good plan in place for getting more widespread testing which should help some.

So my brother may be running a fever (he's coming back from Clemson right now) and we've set up downstairs to house him. No contact with him until further notice. Y'all can say we're overreacting, and if that's the case, you're an idiot. Safe than sorry.

That seems prudent. Nobody wants to get sick. Why would that be over-reacting? I'm assuming it's a basement apartment or something with it's own A/C system. I hope he gets better soon!

Yeah he's got everything he needs. We don't even know if he has a fever yet

Good news. Its still sort of like putting a pull-up on your toddler while potty training after they've already gone on the floor. Sure its gonna help keep things cleaner in the future but theres still a pile of crap to clean up.

I was gonna let you know from what I’ve read this post claiming to be from “Stanford” is fake holding your breath for 10 seconds doesn’t test you for the virus.
