Coronavirus (Stay on Topic)

I think if there are confirmed cases in the county, the local districts will start canceling.
Its weird because around here we had the first case in the upstate and it pretty much got shrugged off by schools

Logistically speaking: Let's say everything gets shut down, employees get a month of paid leave, stay at home.... who monitors their movement? I mean what is to say if 331 million people are told to go home that they don't just go out to gatherings or events of their own? a 100 million households aren't going to stay locked down in their residence for weeks at a time, so how does the government enforce it?

Close down everything but grocery stores, gas stations, and pharmacies.

We already have cases here and they are still open. Or do you mean to actual students?

I think that now that universities and major sporting events are closing, we will see local school systems doing the same. They might hold off until there’s a little more local spread within the community and with students and faculty. I may be wrong. I’m thinking by Monday there will start to be more closings.

So it's not contagious at grocery stores, gas stations and pharmacies? Not being sarcastic just trying to point out the logistics of these measures in a Country this size is extraordinarily difficult

CDC has expanded its Travel Warning, putting nearly all of western and eastern Europe under Level 3 (Avoid Nonessential Travel).

My Jiu-Jitsu schedule has been cancelled. All my students were informed by email. Refunds for half the month will have to be issued. Next month looks like it’s going to be cancelled until the 15th at least. That’s gonna hurt financially.

One of the things I've heard about more than once is false negatives. But I don't know if that was due to a different type of test than we're developing or if it was more an attribute of this virus.
Read a china doctor say this. Hold your breathe for 10 seconds, when you stop you shouldnt cough. If you have corono youd have a coughibg spell as soon as you started back breathing. Now take with boulder of salt.

Awesome! Great for you! Want a medal for it? Unfortunately, the world does not revolve around YOU. There are many, many people that can get seriously ill from this. I'm worried for my own grandparents who are immunocompromised. Maybe you won't get sick, but just cause you won't, doesn't speak for the rest of the population.

There is no overreacting to this. We deal with this hard and swiftly, and every suspension and cancelation done in response to this outbreak is done to slow this thing down.

You don’t have to be a ----.

OMG I feel like I'm living in bizarro world when I read these articles. You weren't talking about red tape a week ago? You said 1 Million test kits by last weekend and another million by this weekend.

“We’re clearing the red tape out of the way. That’s going to be the way that in the days ahead we’re going to have a broad-based test available across the country," he said.

2 +weeks ago. Red tape for vaccine development by private sector. Encourage them to get in and speed process up

Doubles every 6 days. As time goes on it gets down to doubeling every 2 days. Next 4 to 6 weeks its gonna be spike city.

Hopefully not if social distancing takes hold enough! A lot of things are now closing down. It isn’t too late for that to have a positive effect.

Keep in mind that in addition to the average age being significantly higher than the US, the population density in Italy is 6 times as high.

Edit: “The population density in Italy is 206 per Km2 (532 people per mi2). The median age in Italy is 47.3 years.”

“The population density in the United States is 36 per Km2 (94 people per mi2). The median age in the United States is 38.3 years.”

I work in a university library so I’m wondering what the administration will eventually do. I think they will try to hold out through next week then make a decision during Spring Break the following weak.

Also as I read earlier, something like 7-8% more smoke than Americans which is huge considering the much older population.

And if/when they close schools, so many kids will go without, especially as the jobs dry up.

I bought Red Sox tickets for a game at the end of June ?‍♀️ I'm sure I'll get refunded, but damn it. Been waiting years to go.
I don’t know how all the cancellations will be able to get refunds out.
