Yeah imagine that, we relax restrictions and cases rise....and there are still people out there that think everything we have done up to this point has been useless.

I agree with you. But as snowlover just suggested, a significant portion of this almost has to be attributed to the protests and riots. So, the cause of this would be a combo of reopenings AND the massive protests/riots. So, imo this hits both sides of the political spectrum meaning neither side of the political spectrum is immuned from criticism on this. And furthermore, the far left is also guilty of a double standard bigtime. Example: In NYC, going from fining some walkers in the park who are not even in a crowded situation and also criticizing Orthodox Jews gathered for religious services outside to just a week or so later encouraging massive protests that resulted in many folks crowded only 1 foot apart! Furthermore, CNN's Don Lemon was actually giving excuses for the rioting!! The MSM sucks on this really bad! I'm having trouble getting past this.

Meh there were are lot more people at NC beaches than NC protest.....

A girl that works in the front office with my fiancé was diagnosed yesterday. They traced it back to the protests last week. Now everyone in the office is getting tested and the office is shut down. My fiance is quarantined at her mothers house in the upstairs by herself. Total irresponsibility from our younger generations is leading to this second wave. There’s no denying that the protests around the country are to blame for the resurgence we are getting right now. How much worse is it going to get? Stay tuned

I don't doubt for a second people in the protest spread the virus....I was just pointing out that there were way more people at the NC beaches etc than at the protest and when it comes down to it that is more responsible for the resurgence IMO than the protest.....

Considering beaches only line the immediate coasts, and the majority of America does not
have immediate access or means to visit the beach, I’d say beach goers are a fraction of a fraction of fraction of the problem

I was thinking nationally. Do you agree that nationally the protesting and riots should also be heavily criticized when talking about the virus increasing again and that the far left/MSM is guilty of a double standard?

I guess so, but I suppose I see the protest as a valid reason versus a trip to the beach..... they cant help that there is a pandemic going on when everything came to a head concerning the death of Floyd...so its tough to be angry with the protesters for protesting something like that. Though it should most definitely factor in to the discussion of why we are seeing a increase.....that said I suspect less than 1% of the US population actively participated in the protest....maybe 2-3% tops versus tens and tens of millions of people who are doing things like going out to eat, the mall, vacations etc....so while it is bad from a transmission standpoint to have had the protest I still think it is ultimately responsible for very little of the second surge....IMO of course.

Georgia has been open for almost for 2 months and is just now seeing a bump in cases. This is clearly a result of the protestors and rioters!!!!!!
Georgia is doing pretty good overall. I think we get fully open at some point in July. More Restrictions are getting lifted more today.

There is a valid reason to kill grandma?

Even if we pretend like the second wave had nothing to do with the massive elbow to elbow protests that just occurred, the societal double standard is still a bit hard to swallow. We go from “Don’t go to church. Don’t go to your loved ones funeral. Don’t leave your house.” To “Get out there! Let em have it.” It’s all a bit orchestrated. IMHO

Cue Packfan telling us to take it to the political thread in 3..2..1 lol

I see that my consistency is paying off...

It seems like the current surge is a little early for it to be the result of the protests. I would think any surge from that period would be coming in the next week or two.

Oh bologna... This isn't because people got a haircut or sat in a half empty restaurant.

Well it's good that at least people now see the lockdowns, social distancing and other measures were 100% warranted and then correct choice.

Remember the ones who protested in person without masks at the capital to push for reopening!

GOV Kemp continues to lead. Thankful for his leadership as he nailed the initial response when everyone was giving him hell for it.

Um these numbers for GA doesn’t look good to me. Am I missing something?

All I remember is people were selfish for wanting to work to take care of their families and stupid for protesting the lockdowns.

I had an attempted kidney stone removal procedure today at our local hospital and I was talking to the nurses and they told me about how they dedicated the whole 4th floor for COVID cases and never needed it. We are considered a metro Atlanta county but I think we’ve had close to 400 cases here.

Well now that we are seeing what happens when those are ignored and as people get out more then yeah i would say they helped keep it down.

One cant criticize the lockdowns and now criticize the protestors for not doing what the lockdowns were meant to do.

The word of the day would be hypocrisy.

I'm just calling out the hypocrisy of telling some folks to stop protesting because their going to kill their family, then turn around and protest in the street 2 weeks later.. and then jump back on their old horse once their done with their protests.

Most here criticizing the protests are doing so tongue and cheek against the absolute double standard that so clearly exists.

Darn right the word of today is hypocrisy.

@pcbjr could probably use our collective prayers due to a huge surge in new cases in Hogtown’s county, Alachua. They just had a sudden whopping 18% increase in reported cases!

“76 new Alachua County COVID-19 cases are connected to workers at an area farm.”

“One farm worker who traveled to Alachua County from Miami-Dade County unknowingly infected at least 76 additional workers with COVID-19.

A total of 98 people traced back to the worker were tested for the virus Saturday evening, said Paul Myers, administrator for the Department of Health in Alachua County. Eight tested negative and 14 tests are still pending.

The health department will not disclose the exact location of the outbreak, which represents an 18% jump in total cases in the county.”

That’s bad. Let’s hope Phil and his family/friends can stay safe from this horrible virus.

So bizarre how this virus works. So here one man infected 76 people but in this case 2 hairdressers who ended up positive with 140 contacts and NO additional transmissions. Anyone else think that's crazy?

I’m watching WYFF news 4 tonight and it looks like Greenville county has been declared a hotspot. They said county leaders were “urging anyone who has been to a PROTEST in the last 2 weeks to go and get tested.” Wow moment

You're right -- we probably should stay totally locked down until a vaccine or cure is available. That's absolutely the only reasonable approach to deal with this virus.

Lock down, supposedly, was to provide healthcare professionals a chance to get ready. Everyone seems to have forgotten this? Mission accomplished. Great. Now, the reality is we must find a way to co-exist (live and work) with the virus until such time a vaccine or effective treatment is available. "Lock downs" are/were never the long-term solution. If you feel otherwise, i'm sorry, you're just not thinking about this from a pragmatic approach. Period. Shaggy: Do you not agree???

Side note: it's worth noting that deaths (which, at the end of the day, is really what we're talking about here, right?) in North Carolina seem to be at their lowest level since mid-April. Yes, deaths are a trailing indicator.. but, NC has now been "reopened" about a month. We'll see what the next few weeks hold, but... again, we should expect to see cases and, unfortunately, deaths increase as we re-open.

So China delaying school again over 3 cases? In all of chinas secrecy they cant hide how scared they are of this virus.

I doubt it’s just 3. They had a resurgence and are covering it up as usual.
