So NC and GA possibly go on lockdown tomorrow

Louisiana issues their order today . I would expect more states to follow over the coming days

Would that mean schools likely closed till end of April at least?

This is my brief conversation with Sen. Jeff Jackson.

Some possible good news on the Italy numbers today, taken from the worldometer site. Perhaps the shutdown is now starting to show in the numbers. This week will be critical.

“5560 new cases and 651 new deaths in Italy: 15% decline in new cases and 18% decline in new deaths with respect to yesterday.”

I know it is intertwined, but as staff recommended, try to keep the politics out of this thread. I recommend discussing the stimulus bill in Politics thread as much as possible. Or else it will turn into the tiresome one side against the other bull poop that always happens. That doesn’t belong in here imo.
You are 100% correct. My apologies for getting in the flesh. I had to sit there Thursday and lay off 5 people, friends. Praying it isnt more in a week or 2. This just urks me. This will help them bridge these next several weeks, then possibly we can bring em right back in if we mitigate the economic damage. We supply as many of the mom n pops as big box stores.

You can post about it but do it in the political thread. Far too many political posts in this thread.

It would be nice if we had an interactive COVID map that showed each state's responses taken so far when you hovered your mouse over that state, with color codes and everything. My state just had a stay at home order from the governor, and I know several other states have issued similar order. New York, Washington State, and California have been authorized for federal assistance from the National Guard. But it'd be nice to see an interactive map with this all laid out. I need to track this virus like I track my hurricanes. I hope it's not to much to wish for.

I'm not super familiar with this area except for the Skyway, but it's fairly close to home. Seems excessive, but then again if they get a lot of visitors to the area it makes sense.

"We expect to see the first effects of the stringent lockdown measures adopted on March 11 after 2-3 weeks, so the coming week will be absolutely crucial in this sense: we expect to finally see a sign of trend reversal," said Franco Locatelli, President of the Health Council

We have had presumptive positive in our building at work and are still required to report as usual even though we can technically work from home but not permitted to work from home during weekday business hours.

We are concerned we will never hear the official results of the status of that individual.

Just curious, where do you work or what is the industry/business?

Perhaps you're not paying attention; during an apparent "emergency" and "national crisis" pelosi has chosen to torpedo almost a week of negotiating. If the script was flipped the media would be pounding Republicans; but the script would never be flipped because Republicans wouldn't stoop to such a low level.

Perhaps you're blinded by your own political views and fail to see the outright hate being exemplified by pelosi and her actions.
Wrong thread for this crap

Two people who tested positive who are associated with our daycare are in their early 20s and described as “very sick.” So, yeah this thing is not only for older people
I think the trip up here is the wording of Mild when symptoms are reported... Most (including myself) believed it was just like a cold. It wasn't until i saw somewhere "Mild" is anything below not needing supportive care. So it can range from 'Nothingburger' to 'Knock you on your ass, but you don't need to go to the hospital'.

So when is the supposed NC shutdown being announced ?

We are waiting on the govenor of Wilkes County to make an anouncement.

NC has 311 total cases/ 0 deaths so far.
Randolph County got its 1st case this morning. SDs @ Bricks county is shutting down hair, nails, spas, gyms, parks etc.
On top of the rain today in tommorow, the Brickster isnt gonna be a happy camper.

All Campbell University students that tested positive have fully recovered!

From the CU webpage:
There have been four presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 on the University’s main campus. These students were previously quarantined per Harnett County Health Department guidelines, but all have fully recovered and been released from quarantine.

5 pm today is what I'm hearing from FEMA

Yesterday the US tested 45,000 in one day. Week ago was almost nada.
For comparison SK only test 15000 a day.
Kudos to ramping this up and correcting a system that wasnt set up to handle a pandemic.

Yup, its been great to see the ramp up in testing. I feel like this week will be bad in a number of cases but it's also a good thing because it gives us a better idea of how widespread this virus is in this country. From there, we can start making a plan of how to live with this virus and get back to a sense of normalcy.
