Coronavirus (Stay on Topic)

Some of you don’t deserve to comment anymore making statements like this. You’re worried about your pockets more than the health of those around you.
That is not true at all. I’m worried about my family being homeless and hungry. I’m worried if it does fall apart and no economy to recover. You think losing people to this virus is bad. Can you imagine what it will be like if people lose hope. Hungry no homes. Say hello to a 3rd world country. Then you will be trying to save what is yours

This is what I’m saying. Any one passing from this is sad but more kids pass from hunger in other countries than the flu or virus. So now we could possibly be adding kids to going hungry in this nation because of this virus. I’m thinking of the future for our kids! We thought debt for college tuition was high before this. Just wait. America will need schools to be free and health care to be free because so many wo money and jobs. Economy does not come back so quickly when no one has money. These are possibilities that could happen. The sacrifice of shutting down the economy I hope is worth it.

Do you believe this market crash was avoidable? Choices were:

1) do nothing and take our chances in spite of solid data of the dangers of doing nothing? Then having way more sick people and STILL crash the economy after deaths ramped up through the roof?
2) do what we are doing hoping to flatten the curve take a chunk out of the economy but save lives.

Take some deep breaths man. This is going to be a marathon whether we want it to be or not. Barring some breakthrough medicinal cocktail we are going to see lots of.sick people and many deaths. The economy will take its lumps but we are in a strong position to recover. The SOONER that happens with the least.death and sickness the better.

Breath and realize this is not as easy as just letting the economy run free. Keep your head up man.

If we become a "3rd world country", the rest are going to be 5th and 6th world, at best ... this is global and the relativity spectrum is not going to change any time soon (or later) ...

@Matthew70 's low death rate is about to go up.
I don't understand the calling others out, he's has a right to his opinion just like anybody else. Especially his concerns of those who will find it difficult to feed their families, which is no more an exaggerated concern than some of the death numbers being thrown around. There are concerns on all sides of this and everyone has a right to see it from their own perspective.

My point is about the death rate. We've really just gotten underway here in the US. The economic concern is very valid, but citing low death rates as a basis for just letting this play out is akin to wishcasting. All evidence shows that the more strain the healthcare system is under, as the epidemic in a given area matures, the more likelihood the death rate will rise. Taking no action because of the economic consequences will ensure this happens. It's already starting to happen.

Opinions are great, but if they ignore evidence, then they're fair game to challenge. I don't disagree about the economic consequences. They are going to be severe. But if you let this virus sweep across the nation unchecked, they would be just as severe, IMO.

I agree completely. Someone earlier said a poster didn't "deserve to comment " anymore and many people gave them a thumbs up. Silencing opinions you don't agree with is just a ------ thing to do!!

I understand what you are saying. Just saying the loss of life to the virus could be equaled or greater with economic collapse and into a depression. Not saying it will happen but if it does then loss of life from this virus will seem like nothing if we enter a depression.
I do apologize to all I offended. Hopefully this is over soon.

This may not belong in this thread but the stress and tension is running high today. Moderators can move or delete as they see fit

I am a church preschool director. This is something I wrote and posted on Facebook a little earlier today. Some points are funny others more serious. As you read this remember back to when you were a young child and life was maybe not as complicated as it is now.

Everything I know to survive the Corona Virus I learned in preschool:

1. Keep your hands to yourself
2. Do not spit
3. Cough and sneeze into your elbow
4. Do not take more than you need. There is plenty for everyone
5. Share.
6. Sit on your square. Do not move it closer To your friends square
7. This is snack today if you don’t like it you don’t have to eat it. But there is no other snack choice
8. Song: This is the way we wash our hands, wash our hands , wash our hands
9. Be kind
10. Love one another

That's fair, and I apologize for my post before.

I've seen what could be considered wishcasting on both sides imo.

Well, that depends on what the opinion is... If someone advocates engaging in violent crimes, then we should discourage those post from being made. If someone advocates sacrificing untold American lives for financial gain.... well, you decide.

The senate procedural vote just failed in the senate . Back to square one for the massive stimulus plan

I was gonna say we should lock the door and don't let them come out until a deal is reached, but considering the virus maybe not a good idea....

I'd rather know everyone's opinion so I can react accordingly. I don't want to silence people and then wonder what their thinking.

Georgia 7:00 numbers climb to 620 and 25 deaths. Not sure how accurate this is, its from depart of health but number of tested stayed the same from noon.

VP Pence in today's news conference indicated that 9 out of 10 people tested for Corona-virus did not have the virus. Very important stat.
"Like" the post, but it raises a question ... 10% of 360 million is what; 10% of "tested" is what % of 360 million ... context is very important when anyone tosses numbers ...

I'm sure those numbers are national numbers that can be explored. In fact I just heard again at the WH news conference that these numbers are encouraging.
