Coronavirus (Stay on Topic)

NEW: An internal @wakehealth staff email, obtained by @WXII, on Friday reads, “Today, two patients tested positive [#COVID19] who were seen in our outpatient clinics. The staff in those clinics wore appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when caring for those patients.”

Speaking of trillions . The stimulus/ bailout package is set for an initial vote tomorrow with hopes of a final vote Monday . The package is now approaching 2 trillion dollars

Anyone else think at least 25% goes to pet projects not related to Coronavirus.

I assumed good faith on his part until he presented the graph on "daily percentage increases in number of reported COVID-19 cases".

Data rarely lies, but it sure can be deceiving depending on which filter is applied.

The PC literally right now with Trump they are saying not everyone needs test if younger and not that sick.

All US data regarding this pandemic is 100% bunk. There are no reliable statistics.

I’m not saying I 100% agree with him but he does have data behind of most of his comments. We do need to calm down.

I could argue that Cabaruss County NC is spiraling out of control and cite total cases spiked 100% yesterday. And the data backs that up.

That's because total cases before yesterday was 1, and it went up to 2.

That stat I just presented (in my opinion) is just as reckless as the graph he presented.

Edit: To clarify, I'm saying that both extremes could be argued with the same data, but different filters can be used to support different conclusions.

The data is scary, anyone trying to paint it any other way is trying to polish a turd.....people are already dying in NYC at the rate of 1 a hr, that will double then triple over the next 5-7 days, after that who knows....

Italy hit 800 dead this last 24 hrs, they will crack 1,000 a day here over the next few days, especially since the lockdown was too late and now cases are skyrocketing all over Italy....

How bad it ultimately gets in the US is obviously hard to predict, right now however all signs point to this being a pretty rough couple of months coming up.

BTW, I agree with you that we need to be calm. We just need to be realistic.

Sorry if I sounded snarky earlier. I just don't like how he made a point that data can be misleading, and then preceded himself to present misleading data. (in my opinion)

I would love for you to be wrong, but that would be like you said, "polishing a turd." This isn't something to downplay. It should absolutely be taken seriously. And for someone like me, who has a lot of anxiety regardless, is hard to come to grips with.

normal feelings right now man. Know that most of us are anxious and on edge. People are terrified.

I know and that's what makes this all so difficult. When you have doctors and professionals giving dire warnings, it's hard not to be. Having said that, it's okay to have hope that we will make some progress as time goes on. But hang in there. I am considering calling one of the many mental health lines that are available. Talking about it does help, even on this thread.

Based on the daily presser, we are at least 6- 8 weeks behind in a federal response. The assumption we are at day 6 in a 15 day period that will flatten the curve is wholly inaccurate. With a best effort, an inflection point will be realized in late April / early May. A secondary spike is highly likely late July / early September period.

Maybe something to the idea of not doing heavy testing at this point and keeping ERs and hospitals clear. I remember some person bringing this up somewhere else a week or so ago. It would really explain situations like that New Jersey family well and the idea of more social distancing.

The mean viral load of severe cases was around 60 times higher than that of mild cases, suggesting that higher viral loads might be associated with severe clinical outcomes.

The combination of fish belly white skin and bluegrass music is like the Sahara Desert to the vageen.
White belly is fading by the second. I’m getting a head start on everybody that’s scared to go outside and breathe right now ☀️ Coming out of quarantine looking like a Samoan

Despite the deaths 99% of people getting this survive. That's a huge deal and it's easy to fixate on the death and mayhem. People will find a way to get by. Treat your neighbors as friends and family, buy a local restaurants curbside meals if you have the means. We are going to get through this and we can get through it easier and with less stress if we focus on what's good and right and less about the craziness going on. Its unprecedented times we are in. We can make it intolerable or we can come together and remind ourselves theres still good people all over the world.

Certainly not being taken seriously in the foothills of NC

Working people are busy with their weekend chores and Lowe’s was packed with people buying spring garden and yard supplies.

The general consensus is that the media can’t be trusted

At work no changes, report as usual and no work from home is allowed

Just to add something to this, the new drugs they just allowed dropped viral load significantly in that study.

Great points. I think what is creating the fear is people not being able to make any money to buy food and pay bills. No way anyone that does not get paid no matter what can not be thinking about that.
