Not sure if it's been posted yet, but New Orleans is on lockdown now. People are only allowed to go to the grocery store, bank, or pharmacy. I assume it's being enforced by New Orleans city police. Current Louisiana cases as of 530 pm CDT was 537 with 14 deaths. Governor Edwards said in a PC yesterday he believes LA is currently on an Italy trajectory. Most cases are in the New Orleans area.

My cousin is a chef in New Orleans she said that it was business as usual on Bourbon street until a few nights ago....

So there is an eatery here that's known for its incredible breakfast. On any given Saturday there is typically a minimum of a 1 hour wait. They are selling their French toast kits to go but also still seating customers. My wife just got a kit but said they are seating 10 people at a time and that there was a line out the front door still waiting. She guessed well over 100 people.

Ridiculous.

TP can be found, I went around 730 and they had some, not a lot but 10-12 boxes worth, limit 1 per customer. They had a couple carts at the front catching overflow from people trying to buy more than 1. Line at Sams Club here is Greenville is wrapped around the building on two sides. They already said out of TP and Paper towels, limit meats to 1 per member per item.

Yoder's?

Edit: So all those people in line is just as bad as seating them unless they make them stand 6 ft apart lol...

Yup yoders........also they were sold out of the kits so she just got their bread and syrup and we will make our own at home.
Yoders is the best. They are only about 10 minutes down the road, so I was able to call in an early pick up order. Got in and out before it got to busy.

Is the Skylight Inn still open? Anyone know? Best BBQ ever.

Looks like Spain and France are going the same way as Italy as deaths are ramping up......Italy is probably going to see 1,000+ deaths a day soon as other areas are now seeing a rapid increase in cases.....Spain and France are a few weeks behind Italy and we are a few weeks behind them....anyone that thinks this will be over soon is mistaken we are still way on the wrong side of the peak....

Keep in mind Italy has been in lockdown mode country wide for 10 days now...we just need to hope we have slowed it down enough to flatten the curve, Italy looks to have failed badly....

Yeah its still there in Ayden, and Sam Jones ( Pete Jones grandson ) has a place now in Winterville...I prefer Parkers or B's though....but this is WAYYYYY off topic lol....story goes President Reagan while in office use to send secret service agent down here every few months to get a cooler full of bbq from Skylight.

Sad to hear and it is totally not needed. What you describe is exactly what the old media in the country want to promote. They are a big part of the problem.

In rural areas a lot of this is site unseen and local folks are productive as usual

Question. Why do people continue to go to Costco and Sams and wait in these god awful lines? Do they think they are more likely to get an item than checking food lions or local grocery stores? What’s the benefit other than maybe a discount on a large count roll?

As soon as I saw Bbq hole in the wall I knew Bs was next. I use to eat there a lot but Sam Jones has taken over in a big way. Best bbq and homemade chips ever.

Can’t find bread anywhere. I thought Walmart made it in their bakery how can everyone be out of bread even during major snow storms I have seen it get restocked better than this I need bread

Why? Are you out of toilet paper?

YES! Love that place

So to keep this on topic and food related. Sam Jones is the exact same as Skylight so of in Greenville you dont have to go to ayden for the bbq. I just drove by sam jones and the smokehouse was rolling with smoke.

So now the on topic part. Me and my wife are both still working. We have stocked up as needed and decided that we will support local owners on our days off. Yesterday we went to a place called Luna pizza. They are serving orders curbside it also selling homeboxes. We got 2 dough 2 sauces to sets of cheese and we made our own pizzas at home. It was only $16 bucks. Today it was Yoders(more selfish choice since they are worlds best French toast) but we have to do our part.

Our part includes taking the precautions against exposure. Small gatherings not over crowding stores and at the same time taking a little bit and giving back to the people who are suffering financial losses. Search out ththe local eateries doing these kinds of at home packages and help them if you have the means. We will get through this as long as we stick together as a community.

4 new cases in Cherokee county.
I live in one of those county's that have yet to report a case but those are becoming fewer and further between. I'm sure it's only a matter of time even in this little area

That looks like the cornbread my grandmother used to make.

How long before the U.S. takes the lead in the number of infections? A week?
That is an interesting question. In terms of raw numbers or as a percent of population? They could lead to vastly different conclusions but may not be publicized as to which parameter is being used ... if we do take the "lead" ...

Just raw numbers.

So I just read about "#boomer remover". This is an absolute disgrace, and anyone using it should be ashamed of themeselves. I do not understand the disdain for the boomers, from the younger generations to begin with, but talk about being insensitive and self-centered! ?

My biggest concern for us is that the US is a lot more urbanized than it used to be. On paper our population density is less than Europe, but we have more population centers spread out across the country. For example, we have 53 metros with at least 1 million people. So if this isn't contained, we could easily see many more cases than anyone in Europe.

On the flip side, our metros are more spread out so that could limit spread a little bit more. I'm afraid that doesn't apply to NYC though.

Honestly no one knows how all of this is going to play out. Rumors will always be around. Misinformation will always be around. Do I trust what the govt says. No way. See gov of NY. Said he would not close down the state. Bottom line is this is probably going to get worse before better. Financially this is going to hurt me and a lot of people. The longer this goes on the closer we get to a depression. No one can say that is not a possibility. Yes govt sending checks will help but will it really pay the bills? To think we could not have a society breakdown is also putting blinders on. Yesterday a dollar general truck driver was mugged when unloading in Jackson TN. So now their hours are already cut more and limiting amount of people in store. I would imagine their are pockets like this around the US. The longer this goes on the more pockets will develop like this. Kinda like the virus. When money starts drying up for families and hunger sets in it will not be pretty. Martial law right now I say no but if this goes on for sometime. I would bet it will happen. One thing is we will all be changed forever. Hopefully in a good way. Not taking freedom for granted along with food and having enough money to survive and living another day. I think that’s a good thing. I am ready for this to be over as we all are. My advice is just listen to all you hear and one does not have to believe it but tuck it away and remember to expect the unexpected.

My family hasn't gone anywhere since 3/12. That was the day they announced my kids were out of school beginning 3/13. They say 500 cases in GA but it's probably 5,000. Those 5,000 are probably giving it to another 15,000 today. By Monday they will give it to 35,000 and boom, we are over 50k cases and no turning back. Wish and hope I'm wrong.

Edit: my wife did 1 grocery store curbside pickup where they load it in your trunk. No face to face contact and didn't leave her car. Then she used Lysol on bags and packaging before bringing them inside.

Guess we are taking this more serious. Maybe we are overreacting. Just trying to do our part to save the elderly.
