Sounds like they are trying to suppress/hide something? Very strange behavior for a nation to kick them out like this.

Beijing has been suppressing/hiding info since day one.

So, should each of us expect a $1,000 check soon?

The proposal still has to clear the House and the Senate, and in the press conference they mentioned the need to establish a means-testing mechanism.

Shopping update:

My parents reported that there was still no toilet paper, but also no potatoes, ground beef, or chicken (in which my dad had finally held interest in trying to pick up just in case).

They did however pick up a 7 pound Boston Butt. Instead of cube steak we're going to have barbequed pork sometime later this week. It'll be cooked in the crock pot and should be good if it's like what he's done with brisket before.

They will try Sprouts later this week for more stuff.

And that is how you pivot through adversity. I bet that bbq will turn out good..

I’m sure everyone Won’t see 1000. There say I don’t make enough income to get a 1000. Meanwhile I’m stuck at home no pay because I’m a temporary employee for the school.

1k is a very short term solution. I’m just not a fan of bailouts for anyone especially big companies that don’t save profits.

Make sure you invest in a company that will
likely see a bailout ? I’m thinking about the airline/hotel industry as they seem top priority right now for some reason

Apologies if I've missed it but is anyone hearing anything about plans for mortgage and rent? I imagine with all the layoffs and business closures a ton of missed payments are coming and foreclosures aren't going to be good for anyone.

I'm not sure why they'd initially bail out airlines but I have a personal reason of interest to hope because I bought Delta stock closer to the start of it falling. That was another stock I had been watching but until things changed I was going to wait a while. Now, to show how I'd be too emotional to day trade, when I decided to get in, I had seen it go up initially on that day so I didn't place too low of a price on the order.

Bad idea. Could've waited a while, actually probably could've still waited. It will be one of my long term holds but I made a bad spur of the moment decision. I might actually think about buying some more but it might, along with other things, turn into a long term wait.

Tell that to the hourly worker that gets no paid sick days or vacation time. The one that does not get paid if not working. $ 1000 will absolutely help for a couple of weeks supplies versus nothing.

1k will not help for weeks was my opinion. It will help short term but I want to see a long term solution for the lower and middle class. I want to see what the bailout covers and my guess it’s just for the big companies. I want to see what stings are attached to it.

One of the proposals being floated in the House would give $1,000 per each adult and $500 per each child in a household - and that would be a monthly disbursement for the duration of the crisis, not just a one-off payment.

If that’s the case I like it.

My question is where is this money going to come from? You're looking at 330M Americans, the cost of this would be 200-300 billion a month which is an insane amount of money especially if they do this for 2-3 months.

Why don’t they just pull it out of the state gas tax funds that clearly don’t/didn’t go towards fixing the roads?

I can't see that happening. That is 3000 per family of 4. Let's say there's 80MM familys of 4. That would work out to 240 Billion per month just for this (just with a quick head estimate). Do you guys think they would really do that?

We never question this when we talk about paying for wars, bailing out banks, building our stupid wall, etc. but now when it comes to actually handing cash to citizens to help stimulate the economy from the bottom up, we wonder where that money comes from?

Interesting Twitter account to follow - He was diagnosed 9 days ago and gives complete clinical updates on his recovery every day.

Strings will be attached. Not everyone will see that I would guess.

I don’t believe it would stimulate the economy. People are going to save and be hesitant to spend. But if Uncle Sam wants to send me money send away I can find more stock to buy lol

Well first off dont give it to the super rich anyways they dont need it. Perhaps base it on income and only families making under 250k a year are eligible? Both me and my wife should continue to work. She is a nurse and I work for a company thats a manufacturer of a medical device.....adult diapers and bedpads. We shouldnt lose hours as our customers will continue to need the products and her services. Unless of course we get sick and miss work we should be fine.
