Quarantines are like speed bumps, they are just trying to keep the rate of spread at a level that prevents overloading hospitals etc. There may be several quarantines etc put in place and lifted every few weeks in the same areas over the next 6-12 month to try and control the spread . People have to remember these quarantines do not mean you don't go to work, or that you cant go to the store etc. It just means they want you to limit travel locally and interaction with others as much as possible, they also shut down things that allow for large public gatherings like movies, sporting events, concerts, no weddings and funerals etc.....they also try to prevent people from different areas traveling to other areas. In Italy the biggest problem they had were thousands of people self evacuating the hard hit Lombardy region for other parts of Italy, this is exactly what they do not want.
I suspect we start to see widespread school/University closures across the country, lots of canceled concerts, sporting events happening with no crowds etc...
Washington has reported 2 more deaths but more worrisome is that these two were at two different nursing homes and they now have positive cases of Corona in at least 10 different nursing homes....
Yeah that makes sense... so the quarantine is basically to act as a “speed bump” to slow things down temporarily before it ramps back up but at the cost of hurting the economy and businesses. Fortunately I work at a job where I can work remote if necessary but if I worked a job that paid hourly I would be very concerned about how I would pay the bills in the long run.
Heres an article. Just slowed it down barely. This virus is so contagious there was no stopping it now that we can monday morning QB the response. If we dont take those measures we are putting lots of elderly people in grave danger. I sure dont want to see that happen but mass quarantine is only a short term roadblock.
Travel bans in Wuhan only delayed the coronavirus' spread in China by 3 to 5 days, and in the rest of the world by a few weeks, new research shows
Travel restrictions alone can't stop the spread of disease. Interventions like isolating sick people and increasing hand-washing are also necessary.www.yahoo.com

Great deal on cruises right now, book for a week and get two more weeks free.
I am going about my business but what do you recommend? Don’t cancel anything? Just go about life and see what happens? Just advise elderly to stay home? We don’t go near the elderly? Or just don’t worry about it? I am not meaning to sound like an ass. Just wondering what you recommend? So I should avoid the store, the mall , church , work , my kids baseball games ?? What a joke let’s just shut life down

A good read from an Infectious Diseases Specialist....
Interesting that Duke is going to online courses beginning March 23, extended Spring Break through 22nd.... timeframe matches up to NC DPI info. My wife's a teacher, no news yet but gonna do a little prying tomorrowJust heard from a reliable source that the NC DPI instructed every school system in the state to have a plan in place by this Friday in the event that school closures are necessary. My source is inside the Winston-Salem Forsyth County system. The gist is, they (WSFS) are making preparations for online school for all students by March 20th (i.e. they're not expecting a need to close schools before then). There's a certain threshold for the number of cases within the school system that would trigger school closures. Students who don't have the necessary hardware and internet connection at home will be provided everything they need to continue school at home. He said that as of now they are preparing for a two-week closure.
