I can't believe how awful our testing system still is. There are so many stories out there of people wanting to get tested that can't. It's just unbelievable. Here in my area, unless you are going to the ER and into critical care they are telling people to just stay home if they are younger (under 50) with no other underlying medical issues because there is no treatment anyway. Basically, just stay home, ride it out and get better. No test, no documentation, no idea where they've traveled or who they've worked with and spread it to.

There have to be 1000's of people out there walking around right now with this. And so many Americans aren't taking it serious. They are still going about their daily lives as if everything is normal. That is why it's going to take state and federal level shutdowns. Many are too arrogant to do it on their own. And the lack of testing is driving this mentality that it is no big deal.

Raleigh resident Sarah Kordulewski said she was rejected twice for a coronavirus test, once at her doctor’s office and again by a nurse at a UNC helpline.

When Kordulewski saw a doctor in the middle of last week, she said she had a cough, sore throat, body aches, and a fever. The illness had begun a few days before, starting with a headache and fatigue. She said at the doctor’s office, she tested negative for flu. But, she said, the doctor told her the fever wasn’t high enough to qualify her for a coronavirus test.

She then called the UNC helpline and described her symptoms. The not-high-enough fever wasn’t an obstacle to getting tested, she said, but the nurse on the helpline said she couldn’t be tested for the virus because she hadn’t traveled outside the country in the last 30 days or been in contact with someone known to have it.

Kordulewski said she understands there’s a shortage of tests, but it’s important to know if people have the coronavirus disease COVID-19.

“There are so many people out there, they’re sick and they don’t know,” she said. “They’re going to go out and spread it, because they don’t know.”

It's everywhere. Look up a state and testing and you'll find the same stories in each one.
My sister lives near Acworth, GA. Her son was pulled out of school just prior to them closing due to an autoimmmune disorder that essentially makes it hard for him to fight off sickness. Her husband came down with something-aches, fever, horrible cough, etc. She got it too. She tried to find a place to have him tested because of my nephew. They were told to stay home and there was no testing available. This was Friday.

This is what ticks me off, here we are in the United States and people can’t even get tested. It’s almost as if there delaying testing hoping people with mild symptoms will recover and not get tested, thus the overall positive cases is lower. Until more people are tested and the numbers take a significant jump, places without mandatory lockdowns are going to downplay things and continue to do whatever.

Unreal, I hate to hear that. My mom and grandmother are holed up in a house together in Acworth. The goal is for them to have zero interaction with others due to them both being in the high risk category. These stories are nationwide.

About the whole shipments thing. At least for food retailers I can tell you we are absolutely not going to stop getting shipments.
we are basically having to limit our delivery sizes to mostly essential products because the demand far exceeds the man power needed, and delivery capabilities. My store would need 3 trucks sent at once alone to get things back to normal. All the stores in our area are in a similar situation so you can imagine the logistical nightmare created. Until people stop mass buying and hoarding we can’t catch up

We are waiting on a call back from the triage doctor to see if they will even test my wife. She doesn't have many of the symptoms so we may be waiting awhile if we even get to be tested. Meanwhile, we are stuck.

Why a lockdown is possible. So stores can catch back up. We can’t continue to stay on the path we are on. It will only lead to more panic and civil unrest because people will continue to get more irritated when they can’t get what they are looking for.

Let me know what happens - She's close to you and tried at least 3 places and every triage nurse told her no way.

Will do. Our doctor told us they are sending anybody that possibly has it through Cartersville Medical. They have triage tents set up but are trying to limit testing.

I work in shipping (non-food besides for squirrels etc). The confusion may be the LAST shipment without national guard enforcing limits is coming soon esp for PPE and cleaning supplies I ship. Instead of pallets of product we are tossing 2 or 3 of each per truck to the stores. There really is a lack of product in warehouses I can confirm.

Already starting to feel the effects of Coronavirus/looming recession..had nearly 10k worth of jobs cancelled this morning. One cancelled because they didn’t want people inside their home. The other cancelled because they are about to start laying people off and don’t have adequate funds.

Not sure what is going on but I had 2 calls yesterday and 1 just now of people calling me saying I called them but I did not. Anyone else having this issue?

I continue to believe Trump is allowing individual states to shutdown at a state by state level. If states don’t do so then president Trump may have to shutdown nation wide. But I believe states will continue to do it without Trump having to do that. Hoping that makes since. This is best way to keep panic down

Must’ve been a hell of a data set come in to get a complete 180 like that

A startling new report from Imperial College London warns that 2.2 million Americans and 510,000 Britons could die from coronavirus if extreme action isn't taken to change the course of the outbreak.

Why it matters: The report's dire warnings prompted a quick course correction from both the American and British governments on their strategies, but its strict recommendations and long timeline — 18 months — to stem the tide could have far-reaching implications for both populations and economies.

I agree with this . No need for trump to do anything if the individual states keep take drastic measures like they are

Just for argument’s sake, you’re only as strong as your weakest link. Everybody will have to be on the same page for this to work.
