Pattern August 2023 Thread

I'm having doubts about any severe weather (over this way) today. Guess I'll see how this first batch of rain plays out
Might have been better (storm strength wise) if it was delayed some into the afternoon. But it'll still be nice to get rain at midday in August.

Would be even better if I wasn't at work lol. Would be a great day to sit at home with a fresh cup of java and watch the rain fall don't get those often in August that's for sure

Looks like I'm in the 'sweet spot' to actually see some action this evening according to the local WFO. Gonna come down to how much the atmosphere can rebound after the initial event moves through here around lunch. If the clouds clear out the instability is going to build back in and could possibly be a pretty significant event this evening. Second round should be in my area around 8pm. Will probably still find a way to miss out. This has been one of the tamest years for storms in my area that I can remember. I can't recall any Severe storms maybe a few mildly strong ones.

Looks like it will rain here but don't expect any storms. SPC jumped the gun with the level 2 risk for here yesterday.

If it starts out cloudy or rainy in the morning we very rarely get storms unless there is enough clearing for the afternoon heat.

I’ve never seen anything like it. This has to be one of the most epic heat waves in recorded history.
Someone pointed out on the radio that after the Tongan volcano scientist said we would warm over the next few years due to the massive amount of water vapor it put into the atmosphere. I'm guessing this is what happened. For me personally, it hasn't been that far from normal. Sure we've had hot stretches but it wouldn't make a list in my books.

I think it’s mostly been Central GA and points South.
