Looking at the continuing 500mb pattern, still gonna take a GOM to threaten the CONUS except maybe western FL or the Outer Banks of NC.

The wave behind 95l has a better chance at survival since it seems to be colocated with a better moisture surge off of the african coast. That said, the mdr is still dry with the big azores high pumping. The AN SSTs might help anything that gets going but formation of stop going to be a tough task for s few weeks

Nothing to look at until it gets under 240. And until the repeating trough in the east pattern abates. If anything forms out there, it'll most likely split the uprights.

A buoy near Key Largo (although still unconfirmed) measured a sea surface temp of 101.1F five feet below the surface. Assuming it's confirmed, that would set the new world record for sea surface temp in the modern era.
Definitely concerned about RI with storms in the eastern gulf this year....

If anything happens to move between Florida and Cuba in the coming weeks, it will be very interesting to see how quickly it deepens. SSTs there now are in the mid 90s!!!
