Was at Caswel Beach in the cape fear region the other day. The water was ridiculously warm.

The wave behind 95l has a better chance at survival since it seems to be colocated with a better moisture surge off of the african coast. That said, the mdr is still dry with the big azores high pumping. The AN SSTs might help anything that gets going but formation of stop going to be a tough task for s few weeks ecmwf_midRH_atl_26.png

Nothing to look at until it gets under 240. And until the repeating trough in the east pattern abates. If anything forms out there, it'll most likely split the uprights.

A buoy near Key Largo (although still unconfirmed) measured a sea surface temp of 101.1F five feet below the surface. Assuming it's confirmed, that would set the new world record for sea surface temp in the modern era.

Definitely concerned about RI with storms in the eastern gulf this year....

Eastern Atlantic:
A tropical wave is located a couple of hundred miles to the
southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Conditions are expected to be
favorable for gradual development of this system later this
week, and a tropical depression could form over the weekend or
early next week while it moves westward to west-northwestward over
the tropical Atlantic.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...medium...40 percent.

tropical wave located about midway between the Cabo Verde Islands
and the Lesser Antilles continues to produce disorganized cloudiness
and showers. Environmental conditions are expected to be favorable
for gradual development of this system during the next few days, and
a tropical depression could form early next week while the
disturbance moves west-northwestward to northwestward at about
15 mph.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...high...70 percent
Can an admin/mod make a thread for Invest 96L?
