Misc 2021-22 Fall/Winter Whamby Thread

That snow today in SImpsonville is the biggest since either ‘11 or ‘09!! Either way, y’all are welcome! ?

Feeling like Blount Co AL may be apart of the bust zone. We may have to wait until next week It has been right on the fence line leading up to the entire event.
I have decided to head up around the Al/TN Line for this next one. I would appreciate some opinions on where to go. Walker County Al. Is allowed to see it fall sometimes but no playing out in it for us.

It's bad enough having to wait on CAA from the NW. It's far worse having to wait for CAA from the southwest! Especially when your current winds are out of the NE!!!

I'm getting tiny flakes again and were supposed to be sunny in the 40s today ? tick tock on that

But seriously I'm more ready than ever for a real snowstorm

If we (walker county) figure out how to miss out on another winter storm next weekend, I may stop following this hobby. It’s been about 6 years since we’ve seen more than a dusting here and have missed north, south, east and west on several occasions. Current storm is North as was last weeks and next weeks looks to be mostly east. Rapidly getting frustrated…
I've decided to go find snow next week. I almost took the grands to Mentone yesterday. Wish I had done it. They tell me Mentone is shutting down now.

Those that get a lot of accumulation from this storm may have some still on the ground for the next one Friday. Do they get to count the old snow in their measurements of accumulation? Lol

I can't wait to get my first snow of the year
It is frustrating getting IP/ZR while parts of SC, GA, AL, and MS are getting heavy snow. This feels uncomfortably similar to January 2011 and I don’t like it! ?

I mentioned that I brought my parents to our house in case they lost power. (I have a Generac.) I keep my thermostat during the winter at 66. Here‘s a photo of my Dad right now…

My Mom has a blanket pulled up to her eyeballs. I relented and raised the thermostat. :)

Welp, I was in Bust City USA for this event. HRRR showed Blount to be in the game and it was not. The WS warnings for Bama were the locations to be and were spot on including places around Valley Head. Hopefully this next event does not disappoint. Also, I think the NAM has performed better for this area based on the Jan 2nd event and this one. Also, map attached of current temps for this area.76179CDE-DAD2-4416-BDC3-5C301F54320D.jpeg

I’m a long time lurker, but finally signed up once I could no longer access this page without an account. I’m located about sixty miles Southeast of Macon and haven’t received a storm that produced an inch of snow since February 12, 2010. The January 3-4 2018 storm missed me by roughly thirty miles to my SE. Here’s to hoping that I can break my streak this upcoming weekend!

It’s amazing how many times we can do this same song and dance yet some people still want their backyard to be in the sweet spot at day 6 and then have no idea why they have rain come verification

It sucks watching the snow continue to fall yet have so much trouble accumulating. I hate daytime snow ! Darn sun angle :(
And yet people keep on trying to act like it doesn’t matter. Sun angle makes a huge difference, especially combined with marginal BL temps (and warm ground temps, which we fortunately do not have in this case).
