Misc 2021-22 Fall/Winter Whamby Thread

@SD i would be more mad if this ended up being our storm and the pattern went right back to warm SER .. we got so many threats I can’t even keep up with the threads .. what’s a winter without a good ice storm ?

I think Jimmy is buried alive? ??

Yeah, if this coming Friday has any real moisture to work with it could be a decent snow event.

Many parts of Ga was saved from having a major ice storm by 1 degree in many places. So far it’s a bust here. Next

Yeah I was worried about not being cold enough for the front end and then the ULL performing well to the west and petering out as it races through us. Odd that FFC expanded the WWA to the southwest.

I was worried about the exact same thing. But the fact that FFC expanded WWA further south gives me a little bit of hope.

Chris Bustus looking like a complete idiot ! Cue the “ it was a tough forecast, could have went either way”

It’s just bad luck. The problem with the dry slot is you seem to just get stuck in it.

On the bright side, several chances in the coming week or two!

I feel like the models have been pretty spot on so far. Our dewpoints never supported snow on the front side, that was apparent yesterday, and we still could get something from the back. The dry slot was always shown in the middle time frame.

RadioShack was awesome ! Shame it’s gone . I saw this in Washington nc though. Is it an actual radio shack? Official name ok google maps is “ Thomason TV and RadioShack”

Yes it was! For Christmas in 1978 I got one of their eight channel Realistic crystal scanners and I remember staying up until midnight listening to the fire, sheriff's department and rescue calls on it and of course the NWS weather radio station in Raleigh. Even though technology has advanced light years since then, I still have that scanner and yes, it still works! In fact I still listen to the NWS on it from time to time.

Reaaaaally gonna need late week to deliver
I'm cautiously optimistic that next week might bring us the goods when it comes to an actual snow accumulation. I believe we will have more upper level cold air to work with and if the storm tracks a little farther south we will be in the money. I still want to be able to build a snowman with my snow loving four year old grandfather and if things really go well, my father in law in Goldsboro will be able to make some snow cream. He actually set his alarm for 4 AM this morning hoping for snow but like many of us he was disappointed again.

LOL, yea a lot of those old scanners never stop working. Saw a few that could have been like yours.

Hopefully the next HRRR keeps confirming areas of north central and eastern AL in the game for today.
