That's a good question. In it's heyday, RS had two types of stores. Direct corporate, and dealers authorized to sell RS branded merchandise. The last time I checked, all the corporate stores had shut down, but there were still dealers (like this one) that had the RS name.

The dealers tended to be in smaller towns. Often longtime, locally owned electronics (or CB/hobby) stores in which there was one store. Siler City comes to mind. There wasn't a single one that was in a larger city back when I worked there.

Anyway, the corporate stores are long gone (bankrupt in 2011ish? I dunno), but these authorized dealers still exist. Probably with RS branded cables. There's also still a website. So somebody scooped up the name. But I'm fairly certain the current version bears nothing to what we think of.

Also to bring this back to weather, I once met Van Denton while working there. Our store was close to WGHP. Nice guy. Shorter that I was expecting. (they say people look taller on TV--they are right)

After an in depth review of all models over the last 2 weeks, my forecast for here tomorrow is 0-48 inches of snow, 0-4 inches of sleet, + 0-1 inch of freezing rain.

I have you under a Winter Slop Warning. You're gonna get 1-2 inches of something. Some of it will freeze on trees. Hopefully not too much. If it gets above 32, you'll end up with slop like me.

You have a much better chance of getting more slop than I do. And also more pingers.

Looking like next week might be the trick for some snow imby. Too bad I'm gonna be at Disney World hoping for no rain. This winter sucks for me.

I apologize for my behavior earlier

I think there was just some confusion on what you were calling warnings etc.

Speaking of... maybe we are gonna have to make a mountains sub-forum soon.

If I were to "go to the grocery store" and slip on some ice.. could I be "compensated"?
